is that all they can throw at us, with Mr Malthouse, and Bucks having a go about our finals losses over the last couple of years, hey at least we've made the finals which is more than what i can say for the wobbles!
bucks as usual has a go at port, saying that it's pay back time for kane cornes, really if they are still whinging about that then they really aren't focused for this game on friday night, if they even want to bother to show up!!!
Buckley should get his priorities right, and concentrate on actually making it onto the ground on Friday night, with his injury, i hope that all supporters on firday night, give him absolute bull **** because he really deserves it!!!
Kane only gave them the finger because of what **** he had to put up with from you's collingwood players all night, so it was in the heat of the moment after a very close game, and if that's all they are worried about then they have got some problems down at victoria park!

Plus can someone answer this for me, with ports home final games coming up, do the club still get the financial money from ticket sales and catering like they do in the home and away series?????
GO PORT!!!!!

You Fool!!

You made the finals, big deal. If you dont win the cup then theres no point to say "at least we made it" is there.

AS for the wobbles, I dare say that the power have the wobbles as you are yet to win a final. Collingwood will beat your insipid mob. Paybacks a bitch. We were hoping after the last game that we would play your losers in a final and we get our wish.

Nice to see the AFL let Wanganeen off again on a kneeing charge. Must be the dirtiest player going around now that Libba has retired. Would have been his 3rd kneeing charge.

You forget that when something happens on the field it is always remembered for the next meeting. That happens in all forms of sport. Its called motivating. We wont need much motivating, that just makes it even more interesting.

Agreed, you can try to build rivalry but to try and base it on an ill-advised gesture by a 19-yr old really shows the levels you can sink to. I wouldn't be surprised if this is something Eddie has put to the cheersquad, I've heard from the Collingwood boards that he's trying to take over the cheersquad too. It seems that his favourite is that bloke with the yellow hair that you often see on Friday night games. Apparently that guy is not the leader of the cheersquad but is trying to undermine the leaders and recently got the cheersquad fined for littering at the MCG.
And Buckley weighed in with a bit as well. The only problem there is Buckley may not even play and could be well below his best if he does as he would be returning early from hammy.
Collingwood and the Vic media always have a blast at us for booing Bucks; what about the s h i t Wangas had to put up with for years, and he didn't play around with Port like Bucks and Eddie did. The only way no-one will boo Bucks on Friday will be if he doesn't make it to play.

Yeah I'm sure nobody has forgotten Roccas brilliant game-sealing kick that night either, I expect he'll be reminded each of the two times he gets another kick.

At least with Malthouses tirade you lot now have your excuses ready-made anyhow.

Precisely what I was thinking!

I'm sure no-one gets psyched out with the verbal slinging matches that always seem to occur before big matches. I also believe it is just fodder for the hungry media to make a story out of!

It is good to see coaches trying to build up the game. However what Malthouse said smacks of desperation. He knows his team is undermanned against us, he knows they are not playing well and he knows chances are they will get kicked off the park, what he is trying is a desperate ploy to "rev" up his troops or play mind games with ours. Sorry Mick ain't gonna happen.

what Malthouse said is pure genius. He's turning the pressure onto Port to win a game they are expected to win. They'll have a whole state ready to bag them once they lose, especially if the crows get up!
Wanganeen is a good player but he is a dirty player and has been for years. Look at his record for kneeing opponents. Maybe he and Francou sit next to each other in the locker room to compare tactics.
As for basing rivarly on what a 19 yr old did, it doesnt take much. Look at the Ashes cricket, that was based on a death notice when Australia beat England for the 1st time on English soil. It has to start somewhere. Only this time it started when Port wanted to be known as the Magpies. I think that was a good start to a rivalry.
Our coach has eady made excuses? Cant recall that ever being the case. Isnt Mark Williams the biggest whinger in the AFL? YES. That you cannot dispute. Must be a thing about South Australians.

There was already pressure on us to win before Malthouse opened his mouth. We know whats at stake here.

Hes been reported for kneeing ONCE!! Wow.

Like that pseudo toughman Jarrod Molloy?

Isnt Mark Williams the biggest whinger in the AFL? YES. That you cannot dispute.

Oh i can dispute that. Id say Peter Schwab, Kevin Sheedy and North Melbourne supporters are bigger whingers than our Mark.

She said "Wanganeen is not a dirty player, he's a champion. You would have him at the Pies! If you want a dirty player, look at "bloodsmear" Buckley!"

Its the same bloody thing. Bucks isn't a dirty player. 200 games and that one incident for crying out loud. The same as Wanganeed. Champion player and not a dirty player by any needs. And you would have Buckley at Port. (He was a bee's d*ck from returning in 97)

Malthouses comments are enough to fire up any side. Port will win this game. So what if they never have won a final, it will happen soon and if it's against the Wobbles, you can always say the wobbles were the first team to lose a final against Port.

Shoes sometimes are on the other foot.

GO EAGLES!!
GO PORT!!!!!

Nope both are out and out champions and ball players. If you bag our Brownlow winning & Premiership playing champion we'll bag Buckley no matter how unfounded both 'attacks' are.

I didn't bag him.
I have never bagged Wanga.
I think he is a champ. Just needs to work on his left foot. ;)

No YOU didn't, but Caas did, so that is probably why someone hit back with a comment on Buckley.

Look both have played at Port and I and many other Port supporters still rate Bucks very highly. Shame that he didn't come back in '97, otherwise i reckon he would of already racked up a couple of premiership medals by now.

I couldn't give a stuff what's said before a game but I don't know how the coach and players will react. It's usually the Port way though to take care of business on the field before taking care of it off the field.

That's just funny :)

You think Port feel any more pressure than they did last week vs. Brisbane? You think they care about the pressure? You obviously don't live in Adelaide or you would know that Port are under this type of Pressure all year round, from the Port-hating sections of the media and the supporters of the other SANFL clubs in SA. Sure we're 0 and 3 in finals-2 of them vs. premiers on their home grounds, and 1 bad but close loss, with a young, inexperienced finals side. But thats 3 more finals than Collingwood have played in the same time.

To be honest i think Brisbane or Essendon will win the flag this year, and Ports time will be over the next 5 years where we will make it to 2 or 3 GF's and hopefully win a flag (or 2) along the way. But we will smash Collingwood this week, i have no doubt about that. Port players probably don't even know what Malthouse is saying, let alone actually care what he's saying.

Dual premiership captain of the Adelaide Crows, & a couragous & fair player who should not be condemned for ever for one reckless act that he will regret for the rest of his life,

By the way if Wakelin can come back for the prelim should this also be a reduced sentence for Bicks ??

Porthos
4 Sep 2002, 21:09
I didn't reckon Bickley was a fair player before the Wakelin incident either, any more than Tony Liberatore was a fair player because he played clean for a season many years ago.

Bickley charging Wanganeen in the back extremely late after taking a mark stands out in my mind as an example of his moments of complete stupidity, and with the Wakelin incident he confirmed it.

A good player he might be, but fair? Nah. Not any more than Michael Wilson is a fair player....its not they way they play.

I thought he'd retired. But if you want to remember him, perhaps you can get "disgraced former two timing captain" tatooed on his testimonials.

It already is a reduced sentence, reduced from the twelve it should be. Dave Granger used to get eight for lesser infractions in the less-enlightened '80s.

Pathetic crowd!! Cant believe you thought it was a certainty that you would have a prelim when no one shows up!! The crowd sounded like it was all Collingwood.

He almost came out and admitted it was in one of his quotes after the game.

I guess he did win the mind games, but more importantly they also won the game. Can't really say much more than that.

BTW we seem to know how to play finals but just not how to win them just yet:(
