Medium pace swing bowler. Can't bat (9, 10 or 11 generally), but love fielding and prefer to field at square leg.

Haven't played for a few years, but never bowled really (I bowl medium cutters when I do) and batted about 6. Favourite fielding possie short leg, great place to chirp at the batsman!

Opening/2nd Change Medium Pace Bowler (Usually bowl into the wind)
Tailender batsman (Specialist night-watchman)
I don't field in a specific spot. I field we're I get chosen to field, there's no specific spot as I field in many different spots.

Medium Pace Bowler 1st or 2nd Change normally bowl into the wind
bat normally at 7 and field gully/point/square leg/ covers
Power21
15 Jul 2008, 19:24
Medium/swing first or second change.
Bat middle to lower order, usually to swing hard.
I love fielding, generally in covers, which is a difficult place to field well. Won the association fielding trophy to.

15 Jul 2008, 19:34
Middle order bat, cover/point fieldsman and occasional medium bowler. However on last years form I can only claim to do the second one anything near well...
Have not played in a year or 2...
Shocking batsman and fielder. Erratic but very quick bowler with slingy action; half of them were pies and the other half were almost unplayable.

16 Jul 2008, 19:37
Swing bowler, usually open the bowling or first change, and sometimes i open the batting in juniors or wherever else and in senior cricket i bat in the top 4.

Batted around 5/6/7 and also bowled some handy offspin (i actually got tonked quite a bit) and fielded point/cover region
Open batting, open bowling, field in the slips with the new ball and go for a bit of a run around when it's not brand new. The perfect player really.
I am without doubt the into the wind Matthew Hoggard bowler though, it has to be uphill as well.
I never ever get the wind.

Dissapointed at the lack of keepers here.
I keep and bat anywhere from 3 to 7
currently averaging 1000 batting at 1 (only been out 1 time), but only if we bat first, otherwise ill bat at 3 to get some time off to rest between bowling every second over
I can't believe im the first to exagerate their ability!
but seriously, bat at like 6 - 7 and swing for the fences, then either open the bowling as like a medium to medium fast speed or come in first change depending on who is captaining.
EDIT: Just saw Hoggy's response :p

Usually bat at 10 (have very rarely played in a full side otherwise I'd probably be at 11), can't bowl to save myself, and field at mid on/mid off preferably.
Career stats: 39 runs @ 2.60, 1 wicket @ 63.00, and 7 catches.

When I used to play was a 5-7 bat and 1st/2nd change medium swing bowler.
Fielded gully usually, but when we needed three slips slotted in there. Allowed for banter between the keeper and the cordon. When the field was spread I usually ended up mid off of cover. If I found myself on the boundary it meant we had a spinner on and I was told to act as a sweeper and place myself where I thought was best based on where the batsman were hitting them on my side. Hated being the sweeping fieldsman, basically because we had three or four guys much much better at it than me.

Medium-fast first change bowler, batting at 9 or 10, prefer to field at point but I field wherever the batsman is most likely to hit the ball.

31 Jul 2008, 05:44
pure bowler. opening bowler. love the new ball. nothing like coming into a bowl on a saturday morning, both batsmen and bowler hungover as ****, but hey at least i don't have a ball hurtling towards me.
my batting is best described as ordinary.
my fielding ranges from brilliant, to pathetic.... sometimes within the same ball. it's countless the amount of times i've pulled off some cracking fielding in the mid wicket region to save four runs only to throw four overthrows or something stupid like that. or dropping sitters than running the bloke out!!

Can bat anywhere from 4-8, although my best innings have been at 7 and 8.
Slip fielder.
1st or 2nd change bowler, medium pace cutters, nothing special, but won the bowling average award for my team last season.

My favourite roleplay is teacher/student.
can bat anywhere between 1 and 7. my whole career until last season i opened the batting, but playing at a new club at a higher grade that changed.
in juniors i opened the bowling (too old for that now)
now in open age i bowl anywhere from 2nd change onwards, i can swing the ball a fair bit (i bowl left handed, dont understand how mitch johnson cant swing the dam thing)
i bowl left arm orthadox when the ball loses its shine
in rep cricket i was the same with batting anywhere from 1-7 cause pretty much everyone could bat.
with fielding anywhere but slips, hate fielding in slips love being on the move..
made a 1000 runs 2 seasons ago with juniors, seniors and rep cricket combined, highlight of my career so far.

medium pace bowler, had issues with batting as my eyesight wasnt good for any sport involving holding a racquet or a bat
never had the height or physique to bowl flat out. which i saw as a shortfall of going any further as a cricketer
as a bowler? i could hit the 20 cent piece on the pitch every time. hell if you put a 5 cent piece i'd be able to hit it

Left Arm Medium Fast. Open the bowling, got a big engine & can be a strikey or a stocky.
Field at first Slip, shocking fieldsman (****ed my elbow a few years ago, can't throw much anymore), fantastic catcher of the thing though.
Bat anywhere from 6-9 or maybe higher depending on how quickly we need runs. huge hitter of the ball. Really only hit ones or boundaries.

When i was good at cricket i would generally bowl first change and bat 7 or 8, tho have filled in as opener at various times. Except for last year of reps when i barely seemed to get a bowl and couldnt get a second spell, even when i took 3/something in a game and most weeks, bowl 6 overs n that was it.
Then i played grade and went to utter shit, bat roun 7-8 still and open the bowling, bowling pretty ****ing badly:)

Right Arm Offspinner and field at second slip. I'm a hopeless batsman, nearly always des unless we're a player short. I've played cricket for 11 years now and have only made double figures once.
Best figures: 7/20 off 8
Highest score: 40*
2nd highest score: 6

Open the batting. Rarely bowl only needed to bowl line and length when nothing is happening. Field slips early then go for a trot in the outfield later on
dont bowl there

Open the batting and field at cover for the pace bowlers and on the boundary for the spinners. Can bowl but havent for about 2-3 years.

Don't play at the moment but did for a couple of years a couple of years ago.
I was a wicketkeeper, because:
1. I can't bowl for shit and
2. I'm pretty nimble, quick on my feet and could catch well.
I always loved pulling off stumpings, that was great. Batted anywhere really, I wasn't a big hitter of the ball but could time it okay and had a few shots in my armoury.
I'm a right-hand batsman. As for my bowling, although it's hopeless, I bowl left-arm standard spinners, and could spin them both ways if they came out right.;) Just standard offies and leggies.
I can't bowl pace.

flashy but inconsistent batsman, consistant but slow pace bowler - however this works better than some of the speedsters who don't place it in right spots

Pretty much a hard-hitter and sweet-timer of the ball. Bat at 3, like 'The Don'.
Brilliant quick opening swing bowler, can swing it either way with or against the wind. Unplayable most of the time.
When (and if) the ball gets old bowl leggies and flippers.
Field in the slips when I'm not bowling (never fine leg). Never drop a catch.
Could keep if I wanted to.
Good with the score-book too.

same, you 1/2, but in juniors have to retire :thumbsd:. 50 I think for us. couple of seasons back I basically had to stay in and make no runs because everyone fell around me, and then we got to our second best batsmen and my coach would retire me :thumbsd:. I once asked if we could open together and he said "I want to give everyone a go". It was frustrating, because we needed a decent batsmen opening. In our last game we had 3 opening batsmen, so I went at 3, and the other guy at 4. we won outright, but couldn't make the finals

Used to go in around 5/6, would hardly ever play a shot though. Almost every ball was blocked or let go. My highest score was 48* against a side which had 9 players, next top after that was 14 or something. I never liked batting much, but I was difficult to get out. I can't ever remeber being caught out(other than w/k or slips...keep the ball on teh ground). Hated facing swing, especially if the bowler wasn't super quick. I just had too much time to think about how much it was going to swing blah blah. Fast swing I just put the bat there and it hit, and facing the spinners I have the advantage of a large step, so was easy enough to get down the wicket if need be to the pitch of the ball
Tear-away raw pace express right arm over the wicket opening bowler. Loved bowling with the wind at my back off a long run up that made the batsmen shit themselves. Would cut the ball a wee bit every now and then, but didn't swing.
Point field after opening spell, then usually Mid On/Mid Off rotating to Fine Leg/Third Man

Professional first slipper!
Seriously, that's all I did in the team. Usually batted right down, 9, 10 or 11 and bowled only a couple of times. I loved the slips though.

27 Aug 2008, 19:55
last year of juniors this year
ill bat about 4, bowl 2nd change and sit in the slips cordon :P
seniors hopefully i can get a few games in the 1s or 2s
generally bat between 4-7 and bowl mediums
played hatch shield down here last year and struggled
In juniors I did what I want haha :p No joke for a U/16A semi as an bottom ager I turned up right on 8:30am, put my pads on and walked out to bat and made a 50 or so lol.
Won a few awards for batting and bowling in juniors. I was pretty much a bully.
Had 2 years off and now I open in 2 dayers and bat at 4 in one dayers in the seniors. Don't bowl much anymore but sometimes I roll the arm over with a few left arm straight breaks or mediums. Ive done ok but I think my time in the sun has gone.
Always been a terrible fielder.
Opening bat, not much of a bowler occasionally roll the arm over though, couldnt catch a cold hate fielding you'll usually find me hinding at fine leg.

this is closest to me, i also keep when required, otherwise i'm a reasonable 1st slipper

Open the bowling then keep wicket after drinks/lunch/tea or keep before and bowl after. Field at short cover, cover, point etc. Bat 3/4/5/6/7/8 pending the state of the game.
Not sure whether I prefer fielding or keeping, any other part time keepers/keepers who bowl/bowlers who keep feel the same?

I bat around 3 or 4th as I can either bat aggressive or defensive, what ever the coach wants me to. I have opened a few times and found it not for me! Highest score is 54no while batting 5th though.
I'm a pinch bowler and generally bowl off spinners and I go okay, but I don't take many wickets! I tend to keep the score rate down.
I'm a slow runner on the field so I generally field up close to the batsmen or slip.
I play Under 16's and will possibly get the chance to also play seniors this year depending on how I go.
