Reimers, Lonergan or Houli. Probably Lonergan at this stage.

Houli. I thought he was the best of those mentioned when we were really struggling.

Atkinson for best first year player?

Lonergan deserves it I reckon. Doesn't get the media spotlight for the work he does but was missed massively when he was out with his hammy.

Very much becoming our sammy mitchell and will seem like a steal taken late in the draft in a couple of years. :thumbsu:

who is elegible?

most people said remo so he's obviously eligible so i'll go for him:)

To my understanding but I stand to be corrected I think it has to be a player in their first year as Alwyn Davey received this award last year and also debuted last year.

Isn't it a first year player award?

Then it would probably go to Myers.

Has to be Houli IMO. He was a star when he was healthy.

and it probably won't go on a full year of fitness because Alwyn won it last year and he had a broken arm for the last 6-8 rounds!!

Let's not forget young Leroy either.

Plenty of contenders, time will tell.

If the award is to my understanding Leroy cannot win it due to his debut in 2007.

Would say houli, but missed too many games now.
Would say Myers has shown enough, but missed too many now.
Would say Jetta but it's not his debut year.
Which leaves 2 men: Sammy and the Boots.
Hell, could even be a tie.

If Houli and Myers have shown enough in the games that they did play then they could very much win it like the case of Davey last year.

But Houli debuted in 2007 against North Melbourne so if it is a first year player this makes him ineligible

IF the award is for a first year player, then only 1 of them can win it.

Does anyone know the criteria?

Obviously we don't have just researched it and only Myers can win it out of those three if it goes by first year....

Anyone who knows the criteria please post it

Courtney Johns won this award having played games the previous season, so it's not exclusive to first year players I wouldn't have thought.

Must have been a sad lack of quality that year then.

If it is first year only, then Its Myers for sure.

If others are eligible, then its between Reimers, Lonergan and Houli, in that order IMO.

Houli and Lonergan the clear stand outs for mine.

Then Reimers, Myers, Jetta....

Well maybe the rules are the same as the AFL Rising Star and that they have to have played 10 or under games at the start of the year. But would there be an age requirement.

By memory, Johns won that award without having eligibility for the AFL Rising Award.

I don't think there's a strict criteria.

AFL Rising star is when you're -21 and had played less than 20 games coming in

Houli, Reimers and Lonergan will be very close!

If Jetta continues on his recent form then i think he will go close to winning it too. It looks good for our future that it's so hard to choose a clear leader this year!:thumbsu:

Less then 10 games isn't it.

I think Houli will win our Rising Star, he was great at the start of the year.
