View Full Version : Who will stop 'Richo'?

Assuming that 'Richo' plays on Saturday who do you think we should play on him? He is obviously in very good form (before the injury) and could cause us some serious pain. Do we attempt to nullify him or just go head-to-head with him? I think McPhee could be an option, although he may be needed across half forward. Possibly NLM? Or really out of left field; Stanton. He has the engine to go with him and is not too bad in the air. It would be a good test for him. Although we do rely on Stants to deliver the ball into our forward 50. It is quite a conundrum and will have a significant influence on the outcome of the match.

Considering his injury, if Richo does play, it would be mainly foward I reckon. Therefore, Fletcher says hello.
I wouldn't be suprised if he doesn't get up though, he is listed as test along with Thurstfield on our injury list

Fingers crossed he does not play (obviously you guys would be the opposite). Should be a great game.

Yeah, true. I guess beating the Tigers without 'Richo' would make the win a bit hollow.

I couldn't care less if we beat Richmond with or without Richo in their side.
I'm sure after round 9 Richmond supporters weren't saying it was a hollow victory because we didn't have Lucas.
I think Richo will play and play his usual role which is on the wing and going forward.
Knights would be looking at all the obvious options such as Fletcher, Ryder, NLM.....I'd rather see McPhee stay in an attacking role.
Obviously though, Fletcher won't take him on the wing.

a bit dissapointed, would have loved to see Myers do the run with role but with him out would like to see Ryder given the job

If he goes forward then Ryder will get the job

Lovett-Murray or Ryder.

Welsh?
Nah Welsh's ability to tag comes from around stoppages, brilliant at stopping players getting a run at the ball. Whereas Richo when playing on the wing is more of a link up a player from Half Back to Half Forward. We should play a loose tag on him someone who can run off him and make him chase, he is coming back from a Hamstring Injury so we should run him as much as possible. IMO we should give Ryder this role see what he can do when given creative license, a bit dissapointing so far this year seeing as he has been getting very low possessions for someone so classy.

Lovett-Murray.
Should be able to run with him up the ground and it will mean Ryder or Fletcher aren't dragged outside of the defensive 50. Could also seriously hurt him going the other way.
I hope he plays ryder on him. If they play anyone else he will try to drag them forward, ryder has the pace and endurance i reckon.

richo will play, make no mistake , he would never miss a match like this....missing the WC game was the plan to be right against the bombers:thumbsu:

NLM... (To get the job on Richo)
We should hand Ryder the job to give Riewoldt and absolute spanking...

Would rather him not play. Gives us more chance of winning and keeping our slim finals hopes alive!

I hope he does play. Ryder had Brown last week, he should get Richo this week. Even if we get belted by 40 odd points, it gives Ryder another game to learn from as he will arguably be the next CHB for the EFC.

I'd like to see the Richo Ryder matchup, but I have a feeling NLM may get him.

or Deledio... Absolutely slaughtered us last time.
Love to see Ryder go head to head with him in the middle. play Fletcher at FB on Hughes, and NLM has the height and pace to go with Jack Riewoldt. thoughts. might be a good idea. some people on here have bantied the idea that Ryder could play the Goodes role, as a tall running midfielder. perfect oppurtunity. if it eventuates. Watch out

is he even playing?
Dont remember him kicking many goals earlier this year against us, pretty sure Fletcher was on him.
Shared job between Fletcher and Ryder. Fletcher starts on him, and if he starts to either kick goals or runs up the wing a lot then Ryder goes to him.

If he plays on the wing, we want to hurt him the other way. Therefore, we need someone who has a penetrating kick, and an accurate one. We also need someone who has experience in defence (when Richo goes forward) and who can kick a goal at vital times.
That leaves us with two options: Dustin Fletcher, and Jay Nash. I'd like to see Nash be given the job to see what he can do head-to-head. If Jay can push forward at times at kick 3, and set up a couple from the wing, we'll be very happy.

Took the words out of my mouth. Nobody's gotten the better of Richo over the years more often than Richo.
