Tough to tip yet again but i'm going with Essendon by 9 points.

All week into the Brisbane game I had a gut feeling that we'd lose. I was very happy to be proven wrong, but I've got that same feeling again. Richmond have been bursting our bubbles the past few games and I'm gonna tip 'em by 20. Hopefully I'm proven wrong again!

ETA: If Richo doesn't play, it makes it so much easier. Can't wait for 5pm Thursday =P

last two times we have played richmond we have been hit by injuries.. last year they ruined our party and i think the boys are hungry for revenge.. also the tigers are coming back from subi (late game on sunday too) so that might mean some sore legs.. i think the bombers by 15

I think we will win this one. Let's be honest they had a good win on the weekend but the week before they lost to carlton by 6 goals. Going on current form I don't know how you could tip against us.

At this stage of a season ladder positions don't lie. It is 11th V 12th with us a half a game ahead. Nothing in it. Both teams going well. Both rebuilding. Both capable of firing for a couple of quarters. Both capable of folding like an armchair.

I honestly feel we have more talent before goal and the stats show that. I honestly do. If both teams play to similar percentage of ability I'll go with Tigers by 13 but it is anyone's game.

well after Ryder's performance last week, I think we have a lot of talent against their forwards. I also think we might over power our forward line with them lacking in defence talls. bombers by 12 for mine

Tigers on a five day turn around from Perth:eek: Good planning AFL!!!

Bombers 20.15 (135) Def Tigers 14.10(94)
1st Bombers 6.5 Tigers 3.2
2nd Tigers 6.3 Bombers 4.3
3rd Bombers 4.5 Tigers 3.3
4th Bomber 6.2 Tigers 2.2

Tigers to start sluggish, get a bit of a move along from the start of the second quater and get control of the game but from time on in the third they get over run, bombers storm over the line with a leg in the air.

I know that. Lovett/McVeigh out are huge losses. We will struggle to cover them.

Richmond should win by 4 goals...

Real test for the bombers, the way I have seen it recently is your senior players are leading the way...younger guys are doing what they should. If you can knock off the tigers with no McVeigh that's massive.

Simmonds and Hille should be a great duel, but I think they might have greater depth around the ground.

Edit forgot about Lovett..2 big losses, still with no Judd we were given no chance vs Tigers

I've hardly seen Essendon play this year but I'm backing the Tigers by a couple of goals based on our young forwards form of late. Deledio is a massive loss for us if he doesn't come up but evens the midfield battle up a bit with you guys losing McVeigh. For future reference what does getting 'Reimered' entail? He's playing as a tagger?

The only game Essendon has won against Richmond in the past 3 seasons was the one where Richo had the match winning goal taken off him for the bullshit hands in the back decision against Mal Michael. Can't see this changing this weekend.

Riemers was crap in the last game against Richmond too, should establish himself more before wearing those stupid boots, I think he wore them for the first time against us and he sucked.

One of the most obvious hands in the back there has been, how can you still deny that?

Big Blow Hard
17 Jul 2008, 20:21
I think we will win this comfortably, for a few reasons.
-No Richo, not saying no Richo, No Tiges, but he is usually their best player against us and highly damaging.
-Richmond are returning from WA last Sunday, always a very hard task to back up the next week, most teams struggle there.
-Too Fast, We are just too fast, and more skillful. finally we are hitting targets and looking like a cohesive unit. we are nowhere near the side that played Richmond all those weeks ago. Even in that game, first quarter aside, we showed the ability to beat them, getting back to within 4/5 goals.

I can reasonably confidantly tip we will win 6-8 goals. I wont be surprised if we win by 50+

A> Rightfully taken off him. Free kick every day.

B> You wish you had Reimers. Or anyone in your side with a personality. I think Reimers has already shown, he is Orange Boot Worthy, and will only be better this time around.

There is a reason the Tigers wear YELLOW. COWARDS

Richmond by 24.

We can't win this one. One too many out.

They are pretty quick over the ground and we have all our quick guys out. On the G we'll get exposed.

Only way we can pinch this if Lloyd and Lucas kick 8+ and Hille and Watson have great games.

Too many out?

Stop over dramatising the situation, half of the guys injured atm are un established kids.

The only genuine best 22 walk up starts missing are Lovett, Davey and Mcveigh.

dave_27
17 Jul 2008, 21:31
And before people start rattling off Winderlich, Dempsey, Houli, Hocking, Hislop Gumbleton etc.

Who makes way for these blokes out of the current side atm?

Taking into account Mcveigh, Davey and Lovett would come in for Dyson, Atkinson and Peveril. Who else are you going to drop from an inform side? Reimers? Nash?

30 players dont fit into 22.

They are babies in their development ... It's been only a few weeks since they have started to gel into the Knights vision ...

As for Cotchin he is a geniune superstar which is why I single him out in comparisons with Rioli ... You know me by now :p

Essendon is forming into a team on a mission ... Richmond are nowhere which is masked by the fact you have incredible talent like Cotchin, Foley and Deledio ...

You cannot finish bottom with those three, but your improvement has no design unlike the Bombers Bojangles ...

Good point. I think that Houli and possibly Winderlich and Dempsey would be in our best 22. Hopefully Gumbleton will become part of that category too. However as you say an inform side, even if not the best side of individuals, should not be changed too much.

Damn it!

I'm tipping Richmond this week, solely on the loss of Lovett and McVeigh.

I know 2 players probably shouldn't make that much of a difference, but it's still the way I lean :(

Richmond by 9

I've only been wrong about us 2 times out of 15.............hopefully this is the 3rd time.

Winderlich, Houli and Dempsey are automatic inclusions for mine also. That's six of our best 22.

The gap between McVeigh, Lovett, Davey, Winderlich, Houli, Dempsey vs Pev, Nash, Rama, Atkinson, Dyson, Monfries is larger then we think.

You need to look at our 8 game losing streak when the likes of McVeigh, Davey were missing and we were getting belted.

We still have a good structure out there and should go close but I think we'll miss the pace, run and class of the 6 I mentioned and get run over.

That was with a 6-1/2 to 7 day break. only have 5-1/2 this time.

Saying that I think we have too many of our A listers out, so I have changed my tip, Tigers by 6 goals.

get your head out of the candy jar H, you don't seem to make much sense anymore, thats the most erratic lot of baseless drivel I have read for some time. Will be an interesting game.

You guys should win comfortably though IMO. We are missing of 2our best 3 key defenders and our best key forward and they are much harder to cover than a midfielder who is out. Also we are a younger and less experienced team coming off a 5 day break back from Perth.

If it rains it will all be won in the midfield. Niether have particular hard bodies in their but Welsh, Watson and Pevrill will need to stand up for the Bombers, while its Foley, Johnson and Tuck who will have to be the winners for the tigers.
