Ummm, Babycakes ... Croad was traded for a few other reasons besides the salary cap issue. The club knew Chick was keen to move two years ago and could have traded him instead of Croad but chose not to. It's a fact that they wanted rid of Croad and wanted to keep Chick. One out of two ain't bad.

Besides ... we got Hodge and he's already twice the footballer Trent ever was.

I remember when Chick came over when Judgey was coaching Hawthorn. No one ever heard of him, many laughed at his name, but Judgey knew what he was getting and after a couple of years, he foresight was rewarded. As happens alot in this day and age, loyalty is non existant. It cuts both ways, the way the Hawks got rid of Croad last year was also disgraceful, very un-hawthorn like.

So it is of no surprise to see Chick want to head back home. This going back home caper is over rated in my opinion. Players have a short time in footy compared to their overall life, so to devote it to a footy club is not too much to ask. It is generally when the best results are achieved. Hats off to Pavlich for staying with the Dockers instead of using "l am homesick" excuse to go back to Adelaide.

Chick still has a lot to offer, so dont sell yourself short and think you wont get much for him, l am sure West Coast will give you their 1st round pick or a decent player in return for him. Although l am not sure why they need him, they got plenty of players like him, perhaps Freo would be a better fit, add some experience to their program and with Conolly and Croad there, some friends to boot.
