Coming to Adelaide of Friday to watch the Dons v Port match. Are there many good pubs around Footy Park for a drink before the game? Also hanging around Saturday night any suggestions of good pubs in the city?

Cheers

The Lakes is a hotel around the corner from Footy Park. Never been there. If you look down the forum a little bit there should be some advice given to some Collingwood supporters (it's all v. polite) about which pubs to go to.

I think there was a post by a Collingwood supporter in the General Talk board about what to do in Adelaide.... list several things before going on to dicuss Australian beers.

Mmmm, that might have been the thread I was thinking of. Can't say I'm much use for the pub bit, haven't headed into town for a while. The moolah is short for this uni student.

The Lakes is the place to go if you want a drink before the game, pretty good pub. Also very nearby to footy park and it is also close to a number of pretty nice restaurants/cafes, Zacs (Greek) or Cafe Bongourno (Italian) are very good, plus there is a Chinese place that isn't too bad & the lakes also does some good meals.

Other places other than places in town that are worth a drink or two are the (in)famous Ramsgate (at Henley Beach) and/or anywhere down at the bay (the Holdfast or the Grand top the list down there). Both Glenelg & Henley have a fair few decent eating places as well.

As for town, well everyone is different, depends what you are looking for.

The Broadway isn't too bad down in the Glenelg area.

Drop into the Monkey House at Exeter, then the Semaphore just behind there, maybe pop in to the British on the way out to the game, all very classy establishments, no really, none of that, just poor, er, pure class, wear an Essendon scarf and youse will get a free schooner - or pony, whatever.

British is definately the place to go......Usually starts packing in at 5:30pm, ideal for the perve-game drink. One of my good mates in a bomber supporter, and he will be starting off there. You will never want to wash your scarf after a visit to the British and its only 5 minutes from Footy Park.

If you want a Pokie Free environment, the Monkey House leads the way. A good place to enjoy a quiet beer.

As for the city, the Firm on North Terrace, Club 108 on Hindley or the Crazy Horse on Hindley St for the same entertainment as the British.

Good Pubs in the city include PJ Obriens on East Tce and the Elephant & Wheelbarrow off of Rundle Street.
