I personally think it is the most overrated blown out bunch of shite ever.
To me the so called atheltes were the nerds at school who did the sports no one else gave a crap about.
Apart from the basketball, i couldnt give a rats toss bag about any other event.
Ohh i forgot i also care about Stephanie Rice

Of course I care about the Olympics, although there are some sports which I couldn't give a rats toss bag about, but swimming, athletics, basketball, soccer, volleyball + any Australian will have me glued for two weeks.

Which sports do you care about then?
My bro is competing in judo at the games so I have a vested interest in the games this time but it, along with the world cup (soccer, cricket) & world championships, are the events I hang for. AFL season goes without saying.

There are a large number of events I have little to no interest in, Stephanie Rice falls into that category also.
As you say the basketball will be interesting, as will the soccer. The majority of the other events will just pass time if I'm bored. It is nice to have something decent to watch on TV, and I also like the idea of the world being united for a period of time, albeit a short period. In some ways, the symbolic meaning of the Olympics is probably of more importance than the actual events.

I do not mind watching the Olympics. The swimming and running most of the time exciting.
