A shame but i guess it was going to happen sooner or later. I think that will spell the end to Meady's AFL career. Disappointing end but i'm glad he was given that chance late in the season to prove himself. He wasn't able to do so but it would of been even sadder to see him go out without at least having one last crack at it.

I guess this could be a little early for such a thread but i honestly can't see him getting back in. Hope that somehow they fit him in again but cant see it, with Wakes getting closer to coming back and Bassett (a more versatile option) still in the wings, I, for one think that was it for Meady.

Meady (I believe) will finish on 122 games and 8 goals. Won our first B&F in 1997, a great achievement for someone who only just made our original list. In 1997 was rarely if ever beaten (Roos cut him up one day) and for our first five years was one of the mainstays of our defence (team). Was the first player to play 100 games, another great achievement. Played in our first game, our first win, our first final, the ansett & wizard cups and also the game we won the minor premiership in. Shame he wont be there for our first finals win (hopefully this week) or our first GF or first premiership (hopefully sooner rather than later).

Anyway heres to you Meady a true clubman and a real Port adelaide boy who has represented the club both at SANFL & AFL level with distinction. It's a shame it had to end this way.

Thanks once again.

Sad, I'll try and remember him from the Port v Carlton game this year when he went into the ruck and the whole crowd was chanting "Meady" clap clap clap.
But is it going to be hard to forget his last moments dropping that sitter just before half time costing us an important goal after we had got back within a goal last week.
It would be great to see him finish off with the maggies next year in a senior onfield role. It would be good to get Bradley back as well so he gets his locker (2 games off).

i can't think of a more fantastic player to play for the power over the years, i mean he can in the list at age 26 or 27, and the officials were getting bagged for including him saying he was too old now for AFL blah blah blah.
Meady proved all the media by playing some of the greatest forwards such as Carey etc and was rarely beaten.
He has always been one of the favourites with all us supporters, and it's easy to see why :)
I'm just glad that the officials gave him another chance in the side this year after they dropped him, and i hope that next year he continues with the Magpies and / or has some involement with the club with some sort of coaching role
Anyway congrats to Meady on a fantastic career and he will always be a favcourite in my eyes :)

Mead is a leader and we haven't seen the last of him by a long shot. But other contributions await.

Yes, the penance was ended at about 10:15 tonight when I go down to the bar, pull out a fresh $20, and shout a mate a celebratory beer, and I gets about 10c change, and I say that was a 20, and she says, no it wasn't, and I say, I didn't come here for an argument, and she says yes you did, and I say count the till, and she says no, and I say count the till getting ****ed off, and the boss comes over and says the till is on computer and I have to leave my name and address, and I say I'm a Port supporter I have no fixed address count the bloody till, and then he eventually says to her, what did he give you?, and she says... "I can't remember".

Anyway I gets my $10. Sorry about the rant but it was a bloody hard slog breakin tha bloody penance after all.
Cheers!
