Earlier this year I tried to think of a new pricing system for Members/Season ticket holders. The pricing structure would work based on Ticket 'Levels' say Platnium, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Cardboard. The system would work like this:

Each Ticket Level scales in price to something like:
Platnium - $300
Gold - $200
Silver - $150
Bronze - $100
Cardboard- $75

Along with this the cost of Food, Drinks, Merchandise and other goods at the actual games are increased by a certain % ... just guessing say 50% increase in prices.

When attending the games Ticket holders are entitled to discounts depending on their level to offset the cost of the increase in Goods at the ground. For example:
Platnium - 75%
Gold - 60%
Silver - 40%
Bronze - 20%
Cardboard- 0%

This way people who simply wish to goto the football and watch the game and don't wish to buy anything at the ground can purchase a cheap ticket to see the game. If by chance they do spontaneously wish to buy Goods then they will pay the full price for it. On the other hand people who want to see the game and regulary buy Goods can pay more for a ticket but receive Goods for a lower cost.

This can easily be controlled by having controlled price levels setup within the Point-of-Sale system (I have some insider knowledge here). There is no doubt that there are probably numourous holes in this proposal that would need to be ironed out but I think this system might work and be rather flexible to allow those on lower income the opportunity to just go and watch their team play.

Any thoughts?

Only problem is that the catering etc. is the SANFL's duty i think? Port would have very little to do with the takings from the kiosks etc.

In fact does anyone know whether Port pays the SANFL a hiring fee for the ground? Or is that not an issue due to the SANFL holding the license or something?

Love it. I

think the cardboard option should be patented and sold to the crows. As there are many corws members who pay good money but don't ever go, the cardboard cut out would be a useful substitute and probably make more noise.
