Well done guys - I don't really think there was ever any way you guys would drop this one (after last week especially).

Too good, and too much petrol in the tank for us to keep up unfortunately.
:(

IMO Cornes killed us, and it was good to see Stevens lift his game a bit.
Great to see Dimma has still got the whiteline fever - although I'd've preferred he kept his angry pills for next week.:)

Best of luck next week, I'm not too confident for you to be honest, but would love to see you get over Brizzie.

I've been saying for the last couple of months I'd like to see you guys win the GF (if we couldn't) - even just so Dimma can get another medal, and so Wanga has another premiership medal to make up for the one he missed after leaving us.;)

Best of luck for the rest of the finals.
:)

Congratulations Port, the monkey is off your back.

And with the monkey gone, and the expectation of a Lions victory next week, the Port players have a great opportunity to go for broke in Brisbane.

Totally agree, we've got nothing to lose, and a team that has nothing to lose can often pull off some amazing victories.

We have nothing to loose this week, yet everything to gain. If we loose we have the experience of playing in a Prelim. If we win then we will have made it to our first granny!
Either way I am happy to have won our first final and I can stop listening to others saying that we haven't won a final:)

If we lose there is a good chance you will hear how we stuffed up the best possible chance to win a flag. Not to mention what you will hear if some other side wins another one coming from lower than us. There is an immense amount to lose in my opinion. I just hope they play to their best.

True although i think we only really stuffed up a great chance to get into the GF not actually winning it, by losing to Collingwood. If we beat Brisbane up there we will win the premiership, had we played Brisbane in the GF we might of won, we may not have.

What i'm saying is that we have to beat Brisbane anyway.

Congrats, too good on the night (and over the year). Good luck next week.

Mud, I agree, how people can say you've got nothing to lose baffles me. There's a game to be won regardless of what the "experts" think.

If we win or loose, either way it will not be a thrashing. We are playing for the opportunity to be in our first GF. Anything can happen, however it is highly likely that Brisbane will win.
Have we ever won at the Gabba? I know we have played in a couple of draws.

I believe that we will either win by under 20 points or Brisbane will probably be far enough a head at 3/4 time for it not to be much of a contest. I guess with 10 minutes to go if a team is up by 4-5 goals it can easily turn into a bit of a blow out as the team that is trailing has nothing to play for.

Tredrea and Dew are going to have a big one. We will win.

I'm not confident of a win to any degree. Just hoping that we can go with them and provide a tough contest like we didin round 22. If we are in front at the end of the day it will be a fantastic effort. Really can't wait for the game, bugger it's only Tuesday.

Yes, in 1999. Port won 15.13 (103) to 11.14 (80). Port kicked 7 in the first quarter and Matty Primus did a knee.

If anyone is going to beat Brisbane, it is Port. We defeated them in Round 22 fair and square. In the earlier loss we were right there until injuries, then a blowout in the last 20 minutes. From what i have heard (about 4th hand admittedly) Matthews was very disappointed by the loss, although he did not show that publicly.

I seriously believe that we have a realistic chance, and i am seriously making plans to be there at the GF. As I said in another thread, they bleed don't they?

We can beat them. Can't rely on only a handful of players to be switched on though. Wakelin is needed back as to beat them I think we require both Tredrea and Cornes forward of centre taking at least 20 marks between them. The defence will need to be miserly again and at least two of Francou, James, Stevens and Schofield need to beat their corresponding numbers in brisbane's 'fab 4'.

Time for Tredders to put in a big game performance when it really counts and Primus to lift - for some reason he keeps getting beaten by the Brisbane rucks even though they are far from the best.
