Nice.

Is Tito signed now? I heard wispers that he was to rejoin the UFC. Big mistake by Dana releasing him and letting him fight elsewhere. Love him or hate him, he has the most loyal fans that ALWAYS turn up!

I've not been on Sherdog in a while, therefore are a little behind with news.

Also, look forward to Andre V Barnett. Cracking fight. I'm hopeful the Andre wins and gets a crack at Fedor, Regardless, we get to see the Fedor take on an opponent that he has never faced before.

I'm leaning towards Barnett as i beleive he has all the tools to defeat Andre. Not sure why though.

Anyway, lookforward to it.

Pretty good card. Obviously not as good as the first, but still. I'll be watching.

I hope their production team gets their act together a little better this time.

Vitor was supposed to fight Lindland until he injured himself which would have made the card pretty stacked.

Definately interested in the first 3 fights though, they should be excellent.

I can't see Andre beating Barnett, but it should be a great fight. Barnett is too well rounded for him to be exposed and I think Arlovski has a suspect chin so this could end in a KO. Can't wait though.

Tito hasn't signed with anyone yet. He claimed a few weeks ago that he was all set to sign a big contract with Affliction but they've since said he was asking for too much money. I suspect he'll either step away from fighting for a while or suck it up and stick with the UFC as nobody else can offer the money right now.

AA vs Barnett will be a great fight. I'll have to wait and see how the rest of the card turns out before deciding to order it, particularly if we have to pay for the UK UFC event the following weekend.

They've gotten rid of that muppet Frank Trigg and brought in Bas Rutten. I guess that's a plus but I'm still not sure if I'm going to pay for this.

Out is the initial pay-per-view broadcast group of Jay Glazer, Frank Trigg and “Big” John McCarthy; in is the familiar former International Fight League team of Kenny Rice, Ron Kruck and MMA living legend Bas “El Guapo” Rutten.

It's a shame about Big John McCarthy, I thought he was pretty good.

Yeah, would have given big John another shot. He was genuinely insightful last time.

The event has been cancelled and moved to January in California. Apparently they were having problems promoting on the UFC's 'turf' and ticket sales were poor.

Doesn't bode well for their future.

Not good at all.

Perhaps Dana will let Fedor compete in these friggin Sambo tourni's and get the deal inked?

I think I can hear Dana White laughing on the other side of the world.

Fedor is now the headliner. Be really interesting how this will go as it's only 2 weeks before UFC 93: St Pierre vs Penn 2 superbowl weekend.

The worlds of mixed martial arts and boxing are about to collide.

Affliction Entertainment Vice President Tom Atencio on Saturday confirmed that his company has entered into an agreement with Golden Boy Promotions, the boxing promotion led by Oscar De La Hoya. The two will co-promote a hybrid evening of boxing and mixed martial arts to be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. on Jan. 17.

“It’s very good news,” Atencio told MMAWeekly.com. “It’s good for the company, and it’s good for the sport.”

Already confirmed for the fight card is Fedor Emelianenko, who was forced off Affliction’s second card originally scheduled for Oct. 11 due to a chip fracture in his right hand. An opponent for the Russian has not yet been named.

The main event fighters from the now-postponed “Day of Reckoning,” Josh Barnett and Andre Arlovski, told MMAWeekly.com that they have not been informed whether they will be on the Jan. 17 card.

In June, Banner Promotions held a free boxing and MMA event at the Thomas and Mack Center. The event’s main event and co-featured bouts were televised on ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights,” and drew around 9,000 fans at its peak.

Atencio said the companies were in talks with premium channel HBO to air the Jan. 17 show, but were not close to a deal yet.

A press release with further details of the partnership is forthcoming.

Very interesting. Could be a big success or an epic fail. Obviously they're trying to get boxing fans into mma but I think the only way they'll do this is if the card is good. If the boxers are a joke then the whole event will be.

I know that Affliction sponsor Bernard Hopkins and Ricky Hatton but god help us if Hopkins is the headliner. I think Hatton is also with Golden Boy promotions so if he's on it'd be good. The biggest Golden Boy fighter at the moment would be Manny Pacquiao but I don't think they'd put someone of his calibre on a card like this.

Just read that the newly-formed partnership will include four co-promoted pay-per-view events to begin in 2009.

Can't see it working but they weren't going to survive only doing MMA anyway. Whether I watch will depend on the break-up of MMA and boxing matches. A twelve round boxing fight will take over an hour of PPV time. I'm a casual fan of boxing at best so paying full price for a PPV with half of it boxing wouldn't interest me.

The idea of the joint boxing/MMA card fell through and so we've got this pretty good card for Affliction's second show. Main Event won't be airing it though as Margarito vs Mosley is on the same night.

Heavyweight bout: Fedor Emelianenko vs Andrei Arlovski - Arlovski's been training with top boxing trainer Freddie Roach, who has been pleading with Fedor to stand with AA. I don't think it matters where this fight goes, Fedor has the advantage and if he takes it to the ground it'll end pretty quickly
Heavyweight bout: Josh Barnett vs Gilbert Yvel - Yvel's ground game was laughable when he fought in PRIDE and unless it's improved tenfold since then Josh will submit him in the first round
Middleweight bout: Matt Lindland vs Vitor Belfort - Lindland to ground and pound Belfort out
Light Heavyweight bout: Renato Sobral vs Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou - hoping Soko can rebound after a disappointing UFC stint
Lightweight bout: Chris Horodecki vs Dan Lauzon - Lauzon by TKO
Heavyweight bout: Paul Buentello vs Kiril Sidellnikov - Buentello by TKO
Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs Vladimir Matyushenko - liking Matyushenko here to outwork Nog on the ground for a decision loss, he's already defeated Nog before
Welterweight bout: Jay Hieron vs Jason High
Featherweight bout: Mark Hominick vs LC Davis
Featherweight bout: Albert Rios vs Antonio Duarte - no idea
Welterweight bout: Brett Cooper vs Patrick Speight - no idea

Looks like I will be XWT'ing this one.....Just have to find the strength to resist checking results before the event is up:thumbsu:

I like all your picks except for Lindland over Belfort (just have a gut feeling Belfort will be on point....I hope I am right!!) & Soki over Sobral (Soki has not looked hungry for awhile, perhaps getting 86'd from the UFC will ignite it?)

Heavyweight bout: Fedor Emelianenko vs Andrei Arlovski - A lot of people on sherdog think that Arlovski will be the one to stop Fedor. That, plus Freddie Roach adding a bit of incentive, makes me think Fedor's going to run straight through him.
Heavyweight bout: Josh Barnett vs Gilbert Yvel - Seems a mismatch on paper
Middleweight bout: Matt Lindland vs Vitor Belfort - I still hold hope he can be as good as he once was
Light Heavyweight bout: Renato Sobral vs Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou - This is a better match up for Sok, but I can see it going either way
Lightweight bout: Chris Horodecki vs Dan Lauzon
Heavyweight bout: Paul Buentello vs Kiril Sidellnikov - He might not be ready yet, but if Fedor has faith in him, so do I
Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs Vladimir Matyushenko - No real reason, just see Little Nog taking a decision
Welterweight bout: Jay Hieron vs Jason High
Featherweight bout: Mark Hominick vs LC Davis
Featherweight bout: Albert Rios vs Antonio Duarte
Welterweight bout: Brett Cooper vs Patrick Speight

Heavyweight bout: Fedor Emelianenko vs Andrei Arlovski - Fedor, but AA is a VERY tough opponent, probably his toughest test since Mirko in '05, this could have an upset all over it. If Fedor demolishes AA in the first few minutes though, my god, I'll declare that he is indeed a terminator sent back through time to fight MMA.Predicting this to be a relitavely tough fight for Fedor though, he may need to be careful (which he is never). My tip is Fedor by GnP or UD, or if it's an upset AA by KO (hope not). My most anticipated fight this year, above Gsp/BJ.

Heavyweight bout: Josh Barnett vs Gilbert Yvel - Barnett sub, pretty quick

Middleweight bout: Matt Lindland vs Vitor Belfort - Pickem really but hope Vitor wins, Lindlands style is about as exciting as doing your tax. Vitor by decision.

Light Heavyweight bout: Renato Sobral vs Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou - If he can last the first 5 minutes, Babalu will sub Soko I'm pretty confident.

Lightweight bout: Chris Horodecki vs Dan Lauzon - Horodeck by UD.

Heavyweight bout: Paul Buentello vs Kiril Sidellnikov - Buentello by TKO

Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs Vladimir Matyushenko - This is a huge match. I think the janitor will take this with Wrestling/GnP/LnP and avoiding Lil' Nog's subs for a UD.

Welterweight bout: Jay Hieron vs Jason High
Featherweight bout: Mark Hominick vs LC Davis
Featherweight bout: Albert Rios vs Antonio Duarte - guess
Welterweight bout: Brett Cooper vs Patrick Speight - guess

Heavyweight bout: Fedor Emelianenko vs Andrei Arlovski - Fedor lost his first Sambo comp title this year in ages, so maybe a sign he is slowing down. That said Alovski has always been a watered down version of Fedor so I'm still tipping a KO to Fedor.

Heavyweight bout: Josh Barnett vs Gilbert Yvel - Pretty quickly too. The big question here will be, does Baby Face stop him or does Yvel get DQed.

Middleweight bout: Matt Lindland vs Vitor Belfort- Becasue I swore I would never tip Blefort again. It's too painfull being a fan of that man.

Light Heavyweight bout: Renato Sobral vs Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou - Not much love for Babalu here. Soko is a classic 5 minute fighter, all Sobral has to do is wether the storm untill half way through the first, let him gas, and then exploit Soko's nonexistant ground game. One of the toughest first 5 minutes in MMA though.

Lightweight bout: Chris Horodecki vs Dan Lauzon -

Heavyweight bout: Paul Buentello vs Kiril Sidellnikov - Buentello by TKO

Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs Vladimir Matyushenko - Rogerio, not quite good enough.

Welterweight bout: Jay Hieron vs Jason High
Featherweight bout: Mark Hominick vs LC Davis
Featherweight bout: Albert Rios vs Antonio Duarte
Welterweight bout: Brett Cooper vs Patrick Speight

I'm just picturing Babula going right at Sok and getting knocked out.

Sok is so dangerous when going at the start, I've no doubt your thought is a massive chance. He has that amazing strength, but what's even more amazing is his speed. He reminds me a lot of an early Mike Tyson. Until he gasses, and then he's going to end up on the ground. He goes from a top 10 fighter to puff in 1 round. I think Sobral will have to much experience after seeing what happened to Nog and Arona.

Well what can you say?.... Fedor.

He was looking human for the first half of the round, AA came to play. All it took was for him to get sloppy for a split second and BANG! All over. Amazing composure from Fedor. The guy really is the G.O.A.T

Arlovski was looking very good in the opening minutes, looked real quick. But it did look just a matter of time before he got caught. Nothing more to say about Fedor.

Awesome KO, but AA's chin is average at best. Barnett deserves a fight with Fedor if either of them want to do it, but I can't see how he can win.

Yvel showed a ton of heart and better sub defense than I expected but he was outclassed on the ground, Barnett wisely decided not to stand with him.

I was pumped to see yet another return of the 'old' Vitor until Lindland spent the next five minutes looking like he'd been crippled. Ugly sight to watch and it explains why the UFC never puts the camera on someone who is out cold while the sport is still being slammed by some as too brutal.

Another Soko fight where he's done after one round. Wish the UFC had matched him up with Houston before they cut him last year. Strong TKO win by Nog on the undercard, Matyushenko's a pretty tough opponent.

Nothing more to say about Fedor.
The bitter and vindictive Dana White will have to swallow his pride and do his best to get Fedor to the UFC. Cos as things stand, the greatest fighter on the planet is not in his Org.
