No idea why i was thinking about at work today just came to me, wondering who everyone thought was better of the 2.
Figuring most will vote for Waugh so on the basis, along with not being able to stand Waugh and thinking Tubby was a great Aussie captain and guy i vote for him :)

Mark Waugh is overpraised as a slip fielder in my opinion.
Sure, he's taken many memorable catches and always had excellent reflexes, but he's missed more then his fair share of catchable ones over the years, including a few sitters.
Mark Taylor hardly missed a catch during his Test career, so he would get my vote.

I'm sure Matthew Elliott would agree with you.

Mark Waugh's freakish ability in the slips has made him one of the world's bests! So my pick is Waugh.

Mark Waugh is all class, easily one of the best slips fieldsman to ever play the game. Still, Tubby Taylor will always be remembered for 'that drop-on-knee-kick-it-up catch' off Warnie's bowling!

Mark Waugh but I'd go as far to say that Shane Warne is a better slipper than him. Can't remember seeing him 'grass' too many over his career even though 2nd slip is a tad easier to take catches at than 1st slip.

I'd have to say Waugh. He can just have that uncanny ability sometimes and manages to catch most.

Mark Waugh. Richie Richardson was a fantastic slip fieldsman, up there with the best ever.
Taylor.
Mark Waugh is overpraised about everything he does and should be dropped.
Bob Simpson was better than both of them anyway.

Bob Simpson was a marvellous slip fielder for Australia.

Tubby Taylor, of course.
Mark Waugh is a better all-round fielder, but Tubby spent his entire career there. There's a reason he set the world record.
I also think that Ian Chappel was quite a good slipsman.
Mark Waugh - he has the best reflexes of anyone in world cricket at the moment, at just about ever.

Mark Waugh is a fantastic slipper but isnt in Taylors class.
1. Waugh spent most of his career standing next to Taylor at 2nd slip and that is an easier place to field.
2. Waugh has spilled more catches than Taylor.
Simpson was better than both.

Taylor, without a shadow of a doubt. Mark Waugh can do more amazing things, but for sheer consistency at 1st slip, I have to go for Taylor.
the Warne/Taylor/Healy combo was amazing.
Besides, Taylor spent most of his last couple of years as a specialist slips fielder anyway :D
Interesting thread I reckon Waugh dropped at least 3 sitters in the test just finished and made a duck as well.

Waugh, although he wasn't very impressive in the test match just gone.
