Just had a look at the Northern Oval on Friday night, while the Roosters trained, and it is in terrible nick for a VFL standard ground. I'm surprised it passes standards. Most of the grounds we play on in the Wimmera League are at least that good.

yeah lexton plains moved their grand final from austar to learmonth partly due to the poor condition of the ground

yeah, heard that-makes it easier for the guys from the northern clubs, but would have been good to see the game played there again-was successful last year

Pretty sure it was moved because it conflicted with Norths home final.

arent there plans 2 improve the draining and improve the standard of the field in the summer time.

I believe they recieved a grant to improve the oval for an upgrade aswell as having no cricket on it this season will make a big difference.
Its being ripped up and totally resurfaced over summer.
It was holding up pretty well until early August when it rained quite a bit.
In fact the most rain Ballarat has seen in a while.
