View Full Version : Too good.
Just quickly had the "pleasure" of heading up to Brisbane via the Gold Coast on saturday to watch the game. Must say that you guys look the goods. Collingwood should be a walk over, especially if Cloke gets rubbed out (as he should). Man, how good is Voss & Headland, they basically won the game IMO. Voss for a mid-sized player takes some great over head marks at critical times.
Just on a "sour" note, I just wonder about some of your "supporters", i'm sure no one here is in this boat but... really some of them are just there for a night out aren't they. Do they know anything about football. One guy near me spent all game give us the "bird" ever time you scored, we obviously abused him back, mostly all of it was in good nature. But he then left with 5 minutes to go, what is going on there, he was obviously there to stir the pot. He was just there to have a few drinks cause some trouble (if possible) and then head on out, he had no "colours" on, if you'd lost he wouldn't of cared so why did he bother? He wasn't the only one of that type i couldn't believe the people leaving, that was the last time they'd see the players live (i'd think) this year but they left, what's that about? I'm sure it annoys you just as much, anyway...
Good luck next week, i'll be there watching and hoping that you go "back to back". What odds Des Headland for BOG?
Anyone of you guys/girls going down to watch it live?

Yep went down last year and going down there this year. But this time I'm flying down there and not driving, although driving down there was fun. :)

This is the first time i've been to an AFL GF, still pretty excited even though Port missed out, i was pretty sure it would be Port v Brisbane, i think that would have been a great game. Lions v Collingwood, i've got my doubts, could easily be a blow-out. If the Lions play like they did Saturday night and Collingwood play like they did Saturday, it will be very messy.

Went last year, but not going this year. I'm deciding whether or not I watch the game with some pie supporters or not. If I do watch with some whatever the result, I won't leave alive.

yep...flying down on Friday...first time ever to Melb...first time ever to the MCG...guess that's obvious and i am counting down the days till Friday...it's going to be awesome..picked up the tickets today and even though the seats we have will mean we'll probably need oxygen to survive up there in the southern stand, i couldn't care less...BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!
Well done Brisbane. Much too good on the (day) when it really mattered.:(
Please do the same to Collingwood! I have nothing against the Collingwood players or their coaches, but the look on Eddy's face on the big screen as he walked across the oval to congratulate his players was ...... Ego-tripping at it's worst.
Eago welcome to the world of a developing football supporters state. Over time they will learn, and it can't come quick enough for me!.
As for going to Melbourne - I sure am!
Apparently last year (and it seems that I have 5 adult witnesses), when I returned to Brisbane on the Sunday morning and picked up my son from his friends house, I said to him that the next time the Lions make a GF I would take him too. Of course he remembered this! So at the tender age of 9, a little boy from Brissy gets to go to the big game.
We fly down on Thursday arvo. The little fella is getting a bit nervous, he has never really been in large crowds before, and I am hoping to get a tad more sleep when down there this year compared to last year.

Yup there are some people that come to the Gabba that have no idea, nothing better to do than have a few drinks and wreck it for everyone else. There was a group up behind us on Saturday wearing Bronco's gear and we were only 15 mins into the final quarter and they were all yelling and jeering and trying to start a wave. It got as far as the members stand and stopped! Way to go members!! It then went the other way through the general admission and got a bit further, hit the members stand and stopped!
It is safe to say that Brisbane supporters and by that I mean members are a pretty good bunch. It is the bandwagon jumpers that wreck it for everyone else. Maybe just maybe though these jumpers will have come along cos it was "the" event to be at in Brissy this weekend and seen what a great game this is and be interested in coming back for more then more then more and more and more.....................
There were quite a few people leaving early this week but that was because they were going outside to join the queue for GF tickets.

you are right about people just showing up for a night out....brisbanes a small city with alot of focus on sporting events as entertainment...the league and rugby union and in summer the cricket bieng big days and nights...mates of mine go sometimes just as a night out when there isnt anything else going on...just to go and get ****ed and watch something other then tv....but i remember a few years back when the Lions won the wooden spoon, people would always turn up..maybe not as many as now,but the true fans are there...personnlly the rugby league people can have there game of running into each other at full speed like ugly rock trolls.... maybe the spirit of that game rubs of on its watchers...but AFL is growing..Melbournes had a 100 years of footy and we're not doing to bad so far
