View Full Version : Voss's handballing . . .
M.Voss would have to be one of the best handballers under pressure that I have ever seen. He reguarly is able to stand up in tackles and dish off the most amazing over-the-shoulder handpasses, either straight to a target, or into space for a running player.
I find this ability just absolutely amazing.
Not only, is being able to stand up and keep your arms free whilst in a tackle an amazing ability in itself, being able to off-load an effective possession at the same time is just unbelievable.

Agreed. I reckon his left hand handballs are better than his right - is he left handed ?

the key is a tactic i think the Lions brought into the game when Lethal took over - if you are about to be tackled, put your arms up. if your opponent tackles you via the waist, your arms are still free to get in a half decent handball. if your opponent attacks your arms, chances he'll cop you too high on the way though and thus you'll get the free. other teams have copied but none do it to the success rate that the Lions do. I think Voss is the best at it because of his out and out strength, becvause he can stand up in the tackle and his arms are free..... Having blind faith in your fellow mid-fielders must help too, as Vossy seems to go over the shoulder to an open space that a Lions runs on to almost every time.
I agree with all above and it's a wonderful talent but has there been any increase in rib injuries as a result - or haven't other teams learnt to drive in with their tackles yet
