Gisborne defeated Golden Square in the Grand Final on Saturday by 27 points.

Gisborne 16.14 (110)
Golden Sq. 12.11 (83)

It is Gisborne's first BFL flag since joining the league in the 2000 season and the completely dominated the season, firstly in the seniors and they also won the reserves and under 18's flags too. The seniors lost just the one game for the season in round 8 against Maryborough.
Square, who was chasing back o back flags done well after getting flogged 2 weeks ago by 10 goals in the 2nd Semi final.
One comment though by Gisborne coach Mick McGuane summed up their season "There's only one place where success come's before work...in the dictionary"
It'll again take a fair bit of stopping for anyone to get near Gisborne again next season as they have a lot of talent at their disposal and have access to metro players being so close to Melbourne.

Gisborne will weaken the Bendigo League, much in the way that that fellow former Riddell League clubs, Melton, Melton South, Sunbury and Darley have weakened the Ballarat League when they joined (Redan has been the only Ballarat club to break the recent semi/metro stranglehold since 1998), because of their massive population and recruiting advantage.

And with Kilmore wanting to join the Bendigo FL (they've also talked to the Heathcote League and the Diamond Valley League), the likelyhood of the Bendigo League becoming like it's fellow gold-mining town cousin, the Ballarat League will increase.

Wayde, I think Kilmore recently voted against coming to the Bendigo league.

That was likely to happen, but I still think that Kilmore will leave the RDFl and move to join nearby Broadford in the HDFL, or nearby Wallan in the DVFL.
