Yes i watched it, not sure what to make of it.

Not one of those comedies where the laughs are obvious or common but its an interesting set up and Wayne Hope is a funny man. Big fan of Kym Gyngell as well from his old Micallef days ('Nobby Doldrums... I hate you').

Il watch it next week, strikes me as one of those shows that is hard to get into but will slowly become compulsive viewing.

The docking of Ray's pay for the coffee, half a chicken and the present was pretty funny. Then he paid him in coins! Also liked the use of different names for each publication, as if there was several staff.

I enjoyed it - thought Kim Gyngell's straight man to Hope's funny man is a good casting stroke!

I am also not sure what to make of it, will have to reserve judgement for a couple of weeks. The first ep might have been a base for the rest of the series, introducing us to the characters and the like. I have a feeling/hope it will be very good.

Kim Gyngell and Wayne Hope should make it watchable at the very least. Gyngell's character looks to have great potential imo, let's see how it's developed.

I thought i was hilarious!
The stinginess and Kerry Akermanis ringing up the Peru restaurant was hilarious.

I enjoyed last nights episode even more than i did the first.

I adore the way they're building the Ray character up.
So many comedies are full of one-dimensional characters and just hit you with everything in the first episode, whereas with Very Small Business they're developing the Ray character beautifully.
I was intrigued to find out just who the 'Leslie' girl was, and now i know, i want to know more about their past and what has led them to this point.

Can't wait for the next episode.

BTW The Fitzroy line was an absolute cracker.

Great writing and well acted.

Ray is a brillaint character

He is.

Just a shame it's only got a 6 episode run, because there is so much scope to develop the Ray character.

I don't know their plans, but i hope they and the ABC decide to make a second series.

It was great to see them extrapolate Ray's story last night.
It certainly explained why he is the way he is.

I'm looking forward to seeing Ray snap at some point in the last couple of episodes.
It just has to happen, doesn't it?

Hope it gets a second season quickly if it is true that this one is just 6 eps long.

Yeah it's only six long. But that is the great thing about the ABC. Their series are never are too long or stretched out i.e. Lost, Prison Break.

But yeah I hope their is another series but their probably won't be.

I just loved Ray's answer to both Alex' question about Brazilians, and his answer to Don's question about what he prefers.

Just brilliant.

The scene between Ray and Tina was also excellent.
It showed another aspect of Ray, and really developed the issue of his problems with women after his marriage breakdown.

Yeah another cracking episode. Ray is such a well worked character and you can tell Wayne Hope and co. have put in a lot of work on his character. Great stuff!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I find it a bit too depressing. the concept is good, but i think there are a few things about it that make is a bit of a chore to watch.

the bit where Ray's daughter did the designs, then the guy came in and drew the big red star was classic though.

That's Wayne Hope's wife (and co-creator of the show).

That entire scene was brilliant, as was the initial sales push from Ray 'that's 85 with three duck eggs coming out of my arse' Leonard.

I'm really sad that the show ends next week. :(

Been rating at about 740-750,000 people nationally (about 24-26th highest rating show), so I reckon the ABC would be quite happy with that performance. I wouldn't be surprised to see it picked up for a second series by Aunty.

The ABC are really squeezing as much as they can out of Wayne Hope. That's Stupid, Stupid Man (although he is merely an actor), The Librarians and Very Small Business is just a couple of years.

Makes you wonder how much of a dumb shit the commercial producers are that such simple premises, repeated with minor modifications and with a small budget can prove so popular.

Just watched last weeks episode. That was brillaint. Ray is a great character. Once again an Australian comedy on the ABC has more drama moments than all the dramas on the commercial networks put together

Loved the series finale, last night.

Ray's dry one-liners were brilliant, Don's rant to the ATO officers was hilarious, whilst the ending was superb.

I was sitting there thinking 'there is no chance of a second series now', then suddenly, in the last minute of the show, they manage to spring a massive surprise that opens the door to another series of Don Angel exploits.

I cannot wait.

Agree with you, Exhale You.

Loved last night's finale and it does leave the door ajar for a second season. The ratings Aunty has achieved with this suggest that it is a good chance of being picked up for a second season, but you never know.

I think Stupid Stupid Man is replacing either it or the Hollowmen next week.

Brilliant episode, Ray was superb during the grad party and Don just as brilliant when dealing with the ATO officers. Can't wait for a 2nd series.

David James is in both the Hollowmen (as Philip) and VSB (as the juice guy)
