Don't you love the AFL?
Invite 7 or 8 Brisbane Lions players to the Brownlow count for the Monday before the GF and be left with"no alternative " but to fine them each $5000 when (shock, horror) they don't show up.
I have a suggestion. Since the Lions have provided the last 2 Brownlow medal winners, surely it would be only fair for the big bash to be held in Brisbane next year.
Then all the invitees, including the required members of the 2 Grand Final teams would have to fly to Brisbane during Grand Final week. Then fly home, and then turn up at the MCG the following Saturday for the game. Bit of a bummer if you were a West Coast or Freo player eh?
Still, rules is rules.
Turn up or cop $5000 - no exceptions. Even for Collingwood players!!!
I wonder what Eddie "McMiyyionaire" would think of that?
