Yeah i would say it's tap on the shoulder stuff.
You can retire your way or get dumped the next day if you don't.

I bet his retirement speech will be something like:
"I would like to thank ME for all MY hard work. I would also like to say thank you to all those who watched ME bat and ME bowl and all of you know how good I AM. I was the best batting all rounder who ever captained India. Please stand while I leave."
Hate this guy so much.

In my honest opinion mate, I reckon your team will be better off without him. Sorry but good riddance to him. One of the most hated people to have ever played the game you would think. No matter what he's achieved as an individual, he's played for him and him only most of the time. He will not be missed.

The 1-1 draw was a screw up.
India should won that series and comfortably, a half decent skipper and they would have won in Sydney but ganguly was shitting himself and putting 6 men back on the fence when india were the only team with a legitimate chance to win.
Hugely over rated skipper based on 2001 when we all know it was a freakish dravid/laxman partnership rather than his captaincy that turned the series.
Was probably the greatest hitter of the ball through the offside Ive seen. Absolute tosser though

that's alright, we are most likely going to retain the border gavaskar trophy in about 2 months time :D

actually, we would've had enough time to win. but once again, on the final day, stevie bucknor came to australia's rescue.
and i wonder who's decision it was to drop dravid to #6 for that test, and promote vvs to #3.
also, the results says he's our best ever captain.
id rate ganguly ahead of ricky ponting in terms of captaincy, that's for sure. he handled the job brilliantly given the pressure it brings, and the players he had during his tenure.

Examples of Bucknor saving us please.
Ganguly a better captain than Ponting?
WTF? Are you on drugs? Ganguly was a good leader but when it came to tactics he had NFI. Punter used to be shit tactically but has improved that immensely and is a great leader.

And if India dont win, will they appeal the result ?
Will be interesting to see what excuses they use if they dont win, especially because the huge expectations on India based on Australia's hugely inexperienced Test youring party.
REAL pressure on India this time around.

I think you mean regain the trophy?
Remember India lost the trophy when we humbled them at home in 2004.
Just in case you forgot India have never won a test series in Australia, maybe wait till then do before you start talking them up.
Even the kiwis have one win here.

Ajit Agarkar had got Justin Langer lbw twice, with balls that pitched on leg, straightened and were hitting middle stump. Both were plumb, but both were given not out by Steve Bucknor. Later, Damien Martyn was plumb to Murali Kartik, and again Bucknor, who had made that shocking decision against Sachin Tendulkar at Brisbane, adjudged it not out.
its safe to argue that had it been any other ump bar bucknor for the recent and 03 series, we would've won both.
as for ponting, he hasnt improved at all as far as tactics is concerned. the aus/ind series showed that. there were plenty of occasions where he was just going through the motions, waiting for a wicket. a decent captain wouldn't let harbhajan singh get 60 odd in no time. also, just in case you bring up that decision to bowl clarke for the last over in sydney, that wasn't even his idea.

given that we have done no such thing in the past, im not sure what you're getting at.
yep, we'll be up for it. excuses? lol, hey atleast we don't play with 13 men on the field with your captain getting to be a part time umpire if he wants to be.

yeah, typo.
i know that, but we're not playing them in australia next month so it's irrelevant.

He was a very good One Day player, and second to Lara for left handed batsmen to be destructive to spin bowling, but he had so many limitations to his technique. He was a horrible hooker of the ball, crap with short pitched bowling, and is a notoriously bad fisher outside off stump. Any decent fast bowling always gets him offering catches to slips and gullies
His off side play is one of the best of his time, but he used to just suck against any quality fast bowling. Maybe I'm bias coz I don't like the bloke but I'd like to think I'm calling it as I see it
