Noticed Carlton delisted him. Obviously Pagan was not a huge fan as he traded him to carlton from the kangas and when he got to carlton he immediately delists him.
Bonus pickup for Glenelg in 2003 ?

Sorry for being ignorant, but what's the Bays connection with Smith?

Ditto! Looks like another 'bay coup' coming up.
Lindsay Smith played two years at North and one year at Carlton. His first year at North was pretty much a write-off due to injuries.
He is a ruckman/forward with a huuuuuuuuge leap and we loved him at North, took hangers every week for our VFL side. Pagan didn't play him in the ones (except one game where he got about 30 minutes), citing something along the lines of technical deficiences needing to be ironed out. Pagan obviously isn't a fan as Smith was traded to Carlton for a very very very late pick after 2001, and straight-out delisted this year.
Lindsay is a huge talent, always looks a class above in the reserves, but maybe Pagan (along with other coaching panel members) feels the gap between VFL and AFL is too big for Lindsay. Then again, it's not like Denis ever gave him a chance to prove him wrong.
I'd say with so many clubs having thin ruck stocks, he'd be a chance to get drafted to another AFL club. If he returns to SANFL or VFL level, he will dominate.
