This was originally posted on the main board, but I thought it would be a good discussion point here.

What do you consider the top 10 defining moments of the St Kilda FC. Here's mine.

1. 1966 - enough said. Possibly the most celebrated flag in history.

2. St Kilda invited to join the AFL, not because they were any good, but because they had a good ground and it was south of the Yarra.

3. 1965 - the move to Moorabbin and capturing a large supporter base in the rapidly expanding south eastern suburbs. This is the main reason we are ahead of the Norths and Bulldogs when it comes to survival discussions.

4. Lindsay Fox takes over as President in 1982 and pays between 7.5 and 22.5 cents in the dollar to all creditors, which effectively saves the club.

5. 1997 - triumph and then despair, but proof we can survive and be successful in the modern era

6. Allan Jeans appointed coach in 1961, leading to the clubs only successful era.

7. Plugger kicks the ton and wins the Brownlow - 1987 after 4 successive wooden spoons, there is hope.

8. The Blight saga.

9. Trevor Barker, the heart and soul of the club dies young.

10. 1897 - 1900 The (sorry) legend of St Kilda is born with 48 successive losses. Ironically, the 49th is a draw, which is won on protest after a point kicked by Melbourne was later deemed to be from a mark taken after the three quarter time siren.

Not quite sure what you are implying there Vaul. All the stuff on that website (while extremely good) is common knowledge , especially those who have a well thumbed copy of "The Point of it All".
