OK, all other top yadda-yaddas have been done here, except for a BigFooty Hottest 100. If it has, I'll take off this thread straight away (nothing worse than a repetitive thread!:D )
This countdown will be the top 100 songs of ALL TIME, not of this year or any particular year.
Here's how it'll work:
- One entry per username.
- You vote any song/s which you consider to be your favourite or the best of all time, from any genre of music.
- You can nominate a total of 20 songs in your entry.
- Each song you nominate counts as 1 vote - there is no need to put them in any order.
- You have until the end of October (Oct. 31st) to submit your entry. This gives you time to think about your entry.
The list will be revealed at the beginning of November, so get your entries in. Also, please give both title and artist of the tracks, and please be precise with both. I don't want to count a song twice.
Happy voting!

Didn't the Beatles have many good songs, I went to the John Lennon Musem in Japan last year and it is fantastic, saw many lyrics but what got my is the lyrics for Revolution, he had a list of words written down that rhyme with revolution, some were used, some weren't, but it was great!
I'm going to be heavily chastised for this, but here's my go...

I wasn't go to say anything about them, but I absolutely loathe Jebediah. That guy's voice grates on my nerves something shocking.
I think this would probably work better with albums as there are 'that' many songs that anyone could list as their favourite.
Likewise, as there is no criteria requiring whether the song was/is released as a single (or released at all), you are bound to find that many people may/will post very obscure songs, therefore leaving us with a list half made up with songs which not many people have heard.
Anyway, I've tried to pick out those which I would choose above all . . .
Heartbeat and Sails - Augie March
Atmosphere - Joy Division
Turn My Way - New Order
Temptation - New Order
Runaway Train - Soul Asylum
Corduroy - Pearl Jam
Let Down - Radiohead
Karma Police - Radiohead
1979 - Smashing Pumpkins
Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
Soma - Smashing Pumpkins
Thirty Three - Smashing Pumpkins
Thru the Eyes of Ruby - Smashing Pumpkins
Velvet Morning - The Verve
History - The Verve
Space and Time - The Verve
Country Feedback - R.E.M.
Man on the Moon - R.E.M.
Perfect Circle - R.E.M.
Shaking Through - R.E.M.
Even still, there are many which have been left off (probably some that I have even forgotten). I don't expect many of mine to make the list . . . and I'm not even sure if those that I have posted, would be the same list that I'll post next week, or in a years time, etc.! ;)
Maybe you could also consider doing this with albums . . .

There's no way that any Joy Division song is out of left field. Atmosphere is an awesome track. However, i guess it is surprising when you place it alongside Love Will Tear Us Apart which was no 1 in the earliest couple of Triple J hottest 100s of all time, that was b4 Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit came along.
I will get my top songs together soon, I promise.

I will get my top songs together soon, I promise.
Thats what I meant Dogwatcher.Whenever 'most' people are asked to name their favorite Joy Division song they'll say "Love will tear us apart" or maybe "Transmission"."Atmosphere" is one for the real purists(at the risk of sounding like a music snob;) ).
It's pretty amazing as well when you consider Joy Division were totally ignored in the Australian media at the time they were around.I can't speak for JJ(as I was in Adelaide) and I've got a feeling Nightmoves played "Love will tear us apart" once and that was about it.
By the way where is your top 20 you slack bugger!

Love it Bragg,
That's a top top 20 on your behalf.
Sounds like a good compilation tape.

Moscow - The Cossacks
In 1980 there was a song called Moscow by a German (I think) band called Dschingis Khan (Genghis Khan for the non-German market). It was released in two versions "Moskau" sung in German, and "Moscow" sung in English. Is this the same song/band?
I am mortified that I know this.

Where the f*ck do you get off bagging everyones tastes in music?? Especially when you like bloody Good Charlotte and Blink 182 - two of the most pathetic bands in the world. Not to mention Goo Goo Dolls - no better than Kylie etc.

The difference with the Goo Goo Dolls and Kylie is that the Goo's actually have their own sound, write their own stuff and work hard! Kylie is less talented, doesn't write songs and I would know of plently of singers personally who are better than she is!
