Hope everyone is having a good day.

I am on Holidays now and I have an essay to write on Bangladesh cricket. The topic is

International Cricket is a competition for elite teams . Bangladesh should therefore not be permitted to participate

Provide arguments for and against the inclusion of Bangladesh in international cricket and indicate your opinion

Do you reckon you could help me find some arguments for free? I kinda stuck. I was thinking of comparing it with NZ and Sri Lanka who struggled in there first few years. Also I thought about Bangladesh cricket is developing with wins in the World Cup 2007 and beating top nations as another argument.

Thanks, Please pass on some hints if you like to for free

Good points there i suppose.

Relate it back to Sri Lanka, and talk of the bangas increase in players playing internationally, ie. county cricket etc.

I guess the first point to thin of is what is your opinion. If you believe the thesis is true than it would be much easier to demonstrate this, but if you disagree, you going to have to search a bit deeper. If thats the case, then Sri Lanka is your friend.

Hope it goes well mate.

I guess you could argue how Bangladesh should be participating against the lesser likes of international cricket (i.e. Kenya, Canada, Bermuda) as they are not competitive enough to be competing against the likes of elite teams in world cricket - thus taking away from the entertainment of world cricket.

You could argue that their growth in terms of development could be stunted against top quality teams (you could go on to find specific examples from cricket itself, or from other sports to back this up)

You could argue that support will not be as strong for the national team if it continually suffers defeat in the initial stages of their introduction into world cricket - thus they would benefit more from playing lesser teams.

That's just three off the top of my head. Hope it helps buddy. Goodluck with your essay.

Bangladesh are in test cricket for one reason only...to give India another vote at the ICC board meetings.

Anybody who tries to look at it from a cricketing stand point will fail as there are larger political issues in play.

They should have a second tier competition, allowing the weaker teams to compete against each other while maybe also involving A teams from the rest of the world which would mean they would still face quality opposition, probably won't sit top, but should be extremely competitive.

You can't compare Bangladesh to Sri Lanka. When Sri Lanka forst came into test cricket, sure they weren't very strong, but they still had quality players good enough to reach test teams of other countries. 10 years and they had produced world class cricketers like De Silva and Ranatunga. Bangladesh are nowhere near that, and frankly I don't see it happening. They should be barred from test cricket and play against the emerging countries until they are strong enough to come back to test cricket.
