This Friday night(October 4th) the North Adelaide Football Club are having a dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1952 premiership.
I've just confirmed my flight back to Adelaide and ticket to the dinner.I can't wait apart from meeting some true Rooster legends we are going to be treated to very rare video footage from the 1949 Grand Final and a 1953 minor round game versus Norwood.
Just sharing my news as I am VERY PUMPED!!!:)

What year did North play Norwood in Sydney? It was around about this time.

Cant wait, just what I need to keep Mrs Wedgie happy, another big night when I rock home some time Saturday morning, curses living South of town, when I barrack for North! lol

Hey LL, perhaps we should mention why its so special, the 52 North side, still to this day holds the record for the biggest winning margin in a GF.
We beat Norwood by 110pts by memory??
It was my old mans first ever SANFL game that he attended (he was and still is a Norwood supporter) and he got to see his beloved Redlegs thumped by a mighty Rooster outfit.
Also at the time set the record for the highest attendance at a GF which has since been surpassed.

It's going to be so cool, not to mention a interesting night for me! ;)
I can't wait! I have even designed some really cool Name Tags for us History Committee Folk - LL, so all the past players there on Friday night will know who we are and what we are about.
I'll give you, yours when you get there - I probably will be at the door as you come in, Geezus, I better confirm that with Barry D (Sh%t I better get there before 7pm) :p
See ya there LL (Just look for a Tall Brunette) :)
PS: LL don't forget to pick up a copy of the book - created by this group of amazing people! I believe they are part of 'The NAFC History Committee', he he, it looks and is great!!! ;)
Sorry couldn't resist plugging us!!!

Hey Grogette is it true that Ian Mc Kay wont be able to make it due to ill health? If so that's a real pity. I warning you if Barrie Robran is there prepare for a bit of "I am not worthy" work (ala Wayne's World):)
I am just hoping that not to many people recognize me from the late 70's and 80's.I disgraced myself at those clubrooms more times than I care to remember in those days!;)
It's alright I've hit 40 now and I am nice and mature!:D

Hey LL, Yeah! it's true that Ian McKay might not be able to make it! :( he is really bad - the History Committee has organised a time to interview the great man, before it is to late!!!
I know for certain that Barrie Robran will be there - I 100% understand if you go into "I'm not worthy" routine ;)
You should see me with the great man! I can be quite embarrassing! :D
Don't worry LL, have a good time!

The final scores were North Adelaide 23 goals 15 behinds to Norwood 6 goals 9 behinds. Coach Ken Farmer (who incidentally hated Norwood more than any other club) expressed disappointment after the game that North lairised instead of really killing Norwood off.
It is also the match where Ian McKay took his famous mark.
Do any of the older correspondents here remember the time on the old World of Sport where Pat Hall commented about a player who flew for to many marks from behind. Pat stated "Flying from behind went out with button up boots" Seemingly with in secods Channel 7 flashed up Ian McKay's mark over Pat with the other commentators questioning Pat as to whether he had in fact worn button up boots?

HOW FRELLIN' GREAT WAS THAT!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!! What a top night, he he
LL your ace, It was so cool meeting you - thanks for being there! I had a great night! :D
Thanks to RoosterWedgie for being there too and buying me a very generous supply of Guava & Blueberry Vodka Cruiser! your the coolest friend! :) he he
RoosterWedgie and LL had an absoluate ball together - they got on so well! Well done guys! (it made my night) I hope both of you guys had a great night? Sorry if I neglected you two last night at times. :(
I was just a little busy with History Committee stuff, looking after John Renner (I promised his brother Dr Eric Renner, who is a ex Lutheran Pastor at my work, Geezus I wish I could have talked Eric, into being there last night!) & when Barrie Rohran asked me to do things - I was so overwhelmed!! As you both know when BR says jump, you say how high? and you just go and do what he asks! ;) He is the best!
Hope to see you again LL, maybe on Sunday???? If not have a safe flight home to St Kilda.
PS LL, I am glad you got to see & meet Ian McKay, he didn't look to bad last night! :) however Ron Phillips looked really bad, very shakey - but it was cool him being there. I reckon we are going to loose him very soon, so I am glad we had this 1952 night!
The only sad part of the evening was not getting to meet Alan Galloway, oh well next time!
How frellin' cool! were one of the Farmer Scrapbooks? I had no idea how huge they were.
Shalom :p

Guys and gals, I took about 50 or 60 photos with my digital camer last night so I'll probably publish a few on my site and the official nafc site Sunday morning if ya want a gander.
The booklet put out to commemorate the team was awesome.
It was amusing to hear the tales about Ken Farmer and his utter despising of Norwood, I think he would have enjoyed that 108pt win in the GF! lol
We only beat Port in the 2nd semi by 3pts and Norwood beat Port in the Prelim so it was expected to be a hell of a lot closer.
check out these sites tomorrow for the pics:

What a great night! I finally got to meet Grogette(the blue tongued lizard) and Wedgie(the Jason Akermanis of prospect) and a great time was had by all.
I can't believe how much Rooster talent was assembled in the one room! Not only did I get to meet and talk to the great Ian McKay and all the other 52 team present but there was a great many heroes of 1972 there as well.Bugs,God(oh course),David Marsh,Barry Hearl,Arch Wilkey,Kevin Barr,Barry Stringer,Terry Von Bertouch,Daryl Webb(great speech by the old #19),Bronte Mumford(Mac would have liked that!),Rick Schubert(and I'm sure I've forgotten someone). It was a truly magnificent event.
Pity you couldn't make it PA1870.As a student of SANFL history you'd have loved it.Even saw footage of the 1949 Grannie. No audio though but that was alright we made our own!!!!
I made the Magarey Medal count 7 and the medallist count 4(Ron Phillips,Ian McKay,Don Lindner and God.And 6 NAFC team of the century members.
Back in the land of the living now alas, but had a great weekend in the old hometown.Cheers to Grogette,Wedgie and Robranisgod for a great night!
IT'S A GREAT GREAT CLUB AND THE CLUB WE LOVE!
