Blues Brat, I had completely forgotten the Psychotic Turnbuckles, the undisputed kings of "Rock and Roll Wrestling". They were an awesome live band. Anyone remember the name of their band when they weren't dressed up to wrestle?
Some other good band names:

What label are you guys on? Any releases available in Adelaide, maybe Big Star? Would like to have a listen. I wont ask what genre your music is cause pigeonholing is restrictive.

We're on Corduroy records.
Our main influences would be the Eastern Dark, the Sunnyboys, the (early) Saints, the MC5, the Boys from Nowhere.
You can have a look at our website if you like:

Eastern Dark would have been huge if it weren't for James Darroch's untimely death. They were one of the first "alternative" bands I saw live when I moved to Sydney in 1983. I saw them at a dodgy nightclub in Ryde, think it was called Jokers or something like that. Happy Hate Me Nots were on the same bill. I'd love to re-live those days.
Cheers Rusty

With "The best punk album in the world...ever" a close second by any chance? Although how you can call something The best punk album and not include The Damned,The Clash and Dead Kennedys is slightly odd!
By the by I think I own everything Radio Birdman ever did(the boxed set,3 copies of each LP on CD,various bootlegs)and I'd never heard that version of "New Race".What a bonus!

As far as best punk albums go, I can't go past the 3 set compilation from Abberant records:
FLOWERS FROM THE DUSTBIN
NOT SO HUMDRUM
WHY MARCH WHEN YOU CAN RIOT
These albums capture the garage/punk movement mainly in Sydney during the 80's.
Certainly breaks the ice at parties.:D

Sorry Doug, but Sydney's 'punk' movement lagged well behind Melbourne and Adelaide. Sydney became locked into the 70's style punk while Melbourne and Adelaide moved forward and progressed. It took a band called Mass Appeal to drag Sydney out of the time warp it was in, then The Hardons really took off too.
That's my take on it (punk) anyway. Although I do believe those albums were pretty good though.

Fair enuff Mr. Helper, but I was in Sydney during that time and went to many many wild shows so it was what I was exposed to and it is my opinion. During that time when I did come back to Adelaide I tried to see as many bands as possible: Spikes, Fear and Loathing, MOC, but in Sydney you could see a decent "punk" band every night of the week.
So these albums are not definative but for what its worth, I like them and I still listen to them.
Is Dale Govett still around?

I didn't mean to s hit on your opinion and I apologise for that. I guess that my opinion is based on my tastes which became more hardcore punk inclined.

Yeah, I reckon 1/2 dozen times in the late 80's early 90's.
I met one of your lot through a mate who was the singer in Happy Patch(Dale). Can't remember his name though but I have seen him from time to time around the Bay area.
Is it you Mr. H?

HAHAHAHA.
I remember that gig ... The "Dead Azaria and the Dingo" Dance. I think it was supposed to be at the Eastwood Community Hall, if I remember correctly. The Skunks organised the gig. The Advertiser found out about it and it made the front page. Great publicity for The Skunks, but I've got a feeling the gig didn't happen. The venue might have pulled the plug on it because of all the bad publicity.

Did such a band ever actually exist?
I've heard the name before and it's my all-time favourite band name. But I've never heard their music ... and I'd always got the impression that it was just some name that someone thought up but never actually used.
Another one in the same category was "Tommy Ruff and the Leather Jackets".
