The BCCI has thrown a little tanty at the Rajasthan Cricket Association for allowing the Australian cricket team to use their top class facilities in prepartion for the First Test.

Can you believe this?

Shetty had told a private television channel that the RC was obliging the Australians more than expected.

"We won't get this kind of facilities if India went abroad. We would have got the bare minimum. RCA is being a little too obliging to the Australian team, they have done more than what a host country will do,"

What a load of shit, for an influential member of the BCCI to come out and say this. Every team that comes to our shores is provided with top facilities including undercovered complexes allowing indoor net sessions and the like.

How immature is it for an influential figure of the BCCI to whinge because someone dares try to be helpful. India seems to have this inferiority complex if you ask me.

Get a load of big man Zaheer Khan (you know, the guy that bowled that shocking first over in the 2003 world cup, he makes Harmison look like a laser guided bomb). Here is a selection of quotes.

This could be his last series as a captain, [and] if you see his statements in the press you can make out he is under pressure

Under pressure? His dealt with the Ashes, if he can handle that and he can handle this. Could be his last series as captian, what a ********, typical Indian trying to act hard.

I am starting to really get pissed off at people harping on about Pontings record in India, the majority of his innings their were played nearly 8 years ago, hell, why don't be talk about Colin Funky Miller if where going to back that far. Lets dredge up Tubbys 300 as well. Ponting will be the leading run scorer in the series, and lead us to victory like the great captain he is.

I agree with everything you say apart from the last bit:

Ponting will be the leading run scorer in the series, and lead us to victory like the great captain he is.

If Ponting is the leading run scorer god help us. And he may be a great batsman, but he's not a captain's arsehole.

if he's your leading run scorer then you won't be scoring more than a 100 runs in total for any innings...

and so what if they were 8 years ago? he struggled against harbhajan in the series here 8 months ago anyway, bar that adelaide test.

Erm, he's a poor captain. Anyone with any knowledge of the game would be able to tell you that.

He has no imagination and often doesn't seem to have a fall back plan.

The Ponting haters say he was flattered by having Warne & McGrath.

Yet, since we've lost them, his winning percentage is still around the same level.

Punter is a great Captain - at times he does lack imagination, but on the whole, he's fantastic.

The Zaheer quote above was deeply edited. The exact quote that appeared in the Herald sun http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,24405112-2882,00.html

is

"Zaheer also added that Ponting would have one eye on history, as "this could be his last tour to India as captain."

What he said was correct. I doubt Ponting will be touring India in another 4 + years and even if he does he will most likely put through a transition phase with Clarke I guess.

Have you guys read http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,24403164-2882,00.html

This could give the domestic comp a massive boost

All for the expansion of 2020rubbish to keep kiddies in the game (and stop them going to AFL) but WTF would we want a bunch of Indian flat track bullies out here for?

That is so 2005.

Firstly, name me one GREAT captain who has had a an ordinary bowling attack. Ian Chappell, Richie Benaud, Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh they all had outstanding bowling lineups.

Im not saying our lineup is ordinary, if all the seamers fire, then it is a very potent force. In the West Indies Ponting had 2 bowlers. Lee and Clarke.

Yet he showed imagination in using Michael Clarke to get wickets at crucial times, i distinctly remember him setting a plan to get Sarwan caught at short mid-on and within 5 minutes Sarwan was out exactly to plan.

Ponting also got Cassons wickets with field placings.

Ponting has improved greatly as a captain, your observation that Ponting "lacks imagination" is outdated and quite simply, incorrect.

He leads from the front and if he wins this series, i dare say it would be a bigger achievement then winning 5 - 0.

Back your opinions up with some examples champ, all the stats suggest Ponting is in the elite, he has won multiple world cups without Warne and Lee in respective tournaments, he has come back from the Ashes in 2005.

Mate, you have been PWNED.

Dunno about you but I wouldn't mind seeing Tendulkar out here again, even if it's Twenty20 I would kill to see the Master back down under.

Ponting getting 20 runs on the board, only Sharma would stop him. Once Ponting gets used to batting, he could smash Harbajhan for 20+ runs per over
