How good is this song, it is easily my favourite song ever.

It absollutely rocks, the build up through it all is massive, and the guitaring at the end is awesome to listen too.

Anyone else a real fan of it.

Also, while were on Guns n Roses, what is everyones fave songs from the gunners:

1. Novemeber Rain
2. Sweet Child O' Mine
3. Patience
4. Welcome to the Jungle
5. Paradise City
6. Knocking on Heaven's Door
7. Yesterdays
8. Live and Let Die
9. 14 years
10. You Ain't the First

FAAAARK! I was just about to reply to the "favourite albums you don't listen to" thread because I've dug out Illusion 2 this mornign after a long absence.

November Rain is sensational, all nine minutes of it. Guitar solo is supremely melodic, but isn't self-indulgent (although the song as a whole might be).

Around the middle of Illusion 2, there are some very underrated tracks, namely Breakdown, Pretty Tied Up and Locomotive (my favourite off the 2 CDs).

I'm very partial to Sweet Child and Civil War. Sound great at the Cricketer's Arms after your team has just won.

one of the best songs ever!, funnily enough it didn't make my list of votes for the top 100! I should've put more thought into i suppose.

That list is almost exactly how i would put my fav guns n roses songs. Patience'd be 2nd though

can't stand that guitar solo!

it always sounds to me like the guitar is in pain. (i know that doesn't really make sense, but it's the only way i can express it)

can't bear to listen to it.

November Rain is extremely well conceived and written. It doesn't exactly fall into Axl's best range IMO. Everytime I hear it, I can't help but to make a mental list of singers who would have totally nailed it, and made it better. I realize that's not fair as it sounds great anyway. As a matter of fact, I imagine if I heard someone else sing it at this point, it would sound 'wrong.'

My other favorite GNR number is Sweet Child. I read where the opening riff was just a warm-up practice diddy Slash used to noodle with. Supposedly, he hated the idea of using it for the tune.

Again, I don't much like the song (you've probably guessed by now that I'm no G'n'R fan!)

Wouldn't say I dislike it either, it's just one I'm indifferent to. If it came on the radio, I wouldn't change the station or anything like that.

But I have to say that riff is THE best warmup exercise I know. I can sit and play that continously for minutes on end, really gets the fingers going nicely.

I rarely ever warm up. Quite a few of my better ideas have come from jumping in playing improv stuff and screwing it up badly because I'm not warmed up properly.

Once you 'discover' a few gem riffs in this fashion, you'll stop warming up too. ;)

The good thing about the Sweet Child riff is that is doesn't feel like a warmup exercise.

It also makes the casual passer-by think you're a much better player than you really are!:D

Friends of mine had it at their wedding too. I thought it was a bit odd.

"Nothing lasts forever, and we both know hearts can change..."

Plus in the video clip, the chick dies at the end!

Not really the romantic song I'd be looking for.

Agree. Amazing how many people have songs played at their weddings without actually listening to the lyrics first. It took me ages to decide what I want played at mine, but I've finally decided. Two Elvis songs, they may be old, but they say it perfectly. And after those two we blast into the Carlton club song! :D

Hope one of them's not "Suspicious minds". ;)

We'd strugle with the football song thing at our wedding. It might have to sound something like:

Good old Collingwood Forever
We are the navy Blues
We know how to play the game
We are the old dark navy Blues
Side by side we stick together
We're the team that never lets you down
To uphold the Magpies name

etc...... I think you get the point. :D

Yeah I know what you mean. The Carlton club song is a little surprise for him. He doesn't know that is going to be played. Being the Carlton hater that he is, I know he's gonna love it!:D

Off Illusion II, 14 Years, They should've used Stradlin's vocals more often in my opinion. Shame he left the band.

Gotta love You Could Be Mine.

Nightrain & My Michelle are all time faves.

My favourites include most of Appetite, plus songs like The Garden (top notch!), Coma and a lot of the songs on Lies.
