So Johnny Longmire is the FF... who should we have as CHF... this will be hard... ummm Arnie was always there when you needed to intimidate some backman and Donald made it his possie in the 80's but for me it must be Wayne after all his is the King and will be the Captain of our Big Footy Northe Melbourne All Star Team....

Um... Darren Harris was handy at times, Mark Hepburn before he became a ruckman, Steve McCann... nearly forgot Mark Lisle could play there a bit uhhhh...other names escape me. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

So who are you voting for Darky... was that a vote for Harris... or are you waiting to see who others vote for...

Still thinking. Warwick Angus had potential too so I wouldn't discount him yet. Had a fine career cut short by being de-listed.

Mmmmmmm Johnny McCarthy had a heap of talent but maybe it has that guy they call the Duck (and I don't mean Nick Daffy)

Darky

Nah, he just gets picked because of the NSW bias they're talking about on the cricket board. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/tongue.gif

What about Arnold Briedis or Slamming Sam Kekovich. After all CHF is the most important possie in premiership sides.

What about Phil Kelly I saw him play out at Arden st against Carlton at CHF on think by memory he gave doull the runaround... not abad effort for a little bloke... it was the same day Johnstone got away with the tunnelball throw...

There was a CHF in the 60's called Bernie McCarthy who was way before his time. When he marked he would always want to play on and/or handball. It was all too radical and slick for our players so the coach (Alan Killigrew) told any players near Bernie when he marked to yell "Stop" and even grab him to stop him playing on and to make him go back and kick to a pack like everyone else did. He was a favourite of mine was Bernie but,on balance, I think I'd have to go for the incumbent.

Groucho,

My folks go on all the time about Bernie McCarthy, and how he played before his time. As good as he may have been, there is only one King.

Shinners can you believe how good Eric was in the thirds and how fat and slow he looked when he finally made his debut in 96? Still did ok against Silvagni in the one quarter he got to play on him, but man did he look out of his depth.

I thought of Jamie as being a candidate for best Ruckman!!!

John Kennedy used to think so.

When all else failed it was send Jamie to the Ruck.

I can hardly stop laughing!!!!

Don't get me wrong - nothing wrong with Darryl Sutton.......but stacked up against the Duck.......he struggles!!

But then again stack any player up against the Duck and................they struggle! http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif

Is it to late to put Watts name forward as the poor bloke has been played out of position for far to long.

With all the ass kicking he has copped he should know what a great chf does, but on 2nd thoughts he wouldnt know what his opponent is up to.

Easily the best (and perhaps first) CFB cum CFW...Ross Glendinning.
Was ocassionally beaten at CHB BUT in the same game was moved to CHF and was rarely beaten. Took the game by the proverbials and was great to watch...especially in front of the Grandstand when he torpetoed through goals from inside the square. Old school kangas would remember how we felt great when he had the ball because he was so good. One position player for CHF then Carey was easily the best. Oh...and of that era of egos at North (quite rightly) he was an absolute gentleman to us young fans.

Mark Roberts used to Jackovich when he played CHF.
Although he played there only once, it was still a 100% strike rate.

Mark Roberts was a great player for us.
i'm talking about Arden St. late 70's early 80's.
Perhaps you were not born. Arden St. was fantastic.
Glendinning was a great player and clubman for us then.

Where does a CFB and CFW play? I have never heard of those positions.

CHB = Centre Half Back
CHF = Centre Half Forward.
ok i may be dislexic on the second position.
but he was still the greatest at Arden St. and when he pumped up his chest...CHB.CHF. doesn't matter, he the man
