When I woke up and saw Ken Shamrock was out of the fight against Kimbo Slice, and Seth Petruzelli was in, I knew I was in for a good morning. I don't mind Kimbo as a person, but it was good to see him lose against decent competition. I just wish it was a spinning back kick that put him out, instead of a soft arse jab.

WTF? I've been at work and I'm reading about it now. The fight lasted 14 seconds! I don't know what's more of a joke - the actual fight or the fact that Kimbo was going to fight Ken Shamrock in the first place.

Thanks to youtube we can all save our download on this fight.

Saw the thread title when scrolling down the boards and didn't read it because I hadn't seen the show so I assumed it was going to be thankful that poor Ken wouldn't be getting crushed again.

Just watched the fights and this was even better. I admire that Kimbo's actually dedicated himself to training and taking the sport seriously but any fan of the sport knows that he's a novice and not even close to being a decent fighter. Any hype and mystique he had has been shattered now, it'll be interesting to see if he's commited enough to learn from it and rebound.

The other fights on the show were pretty good. Shields has nobody left to fight with all the other top welterweights signed to the UFC so a move to 185 and a fight with Lawler would be good to see.

I'd heard Roy Nelson was fat but this was the first time I've seen him fight, and he's really fat. I'm now a fan. The referee's stand-up call when he was working for a kimura was awful, the stoppage may have been a bit premature too.

By the way, if you haven't yet I recommend checking around the net for weigh-in footage, Gina Carano had to strip naked to make weight for her fight :thumbsu:

Time to be a pro-wrestler, Kimbo, whilst you still have a little credibility with the mainstream. He's way to old to ever become anything other than a b-level fighter, IMO.

God it was good! I watched the stream and was pissed that ken was out, but as soon as I heard seth was going to take his place, I was like, whoa this is a big risk for EliteXC management. And to think that initial betting had Seth a 4-1 underdog!!! Seems like the Las Vegas bookies were buying the Kimbo beat up! That or they had no idea who Petruzelli was! Easy money :)

Ninja and Radach was an awesome fight.

Mauro was right in saying the women should also fight 3x5 rounds. 3minute rounds are too short.

Shields has no one else to fight, but he still isn't even top 10 in the UFC.

Oh and the stand up of Nelson from side control was a disgrace.

Joe Rogan wrote on the UG forum that it was just about the worst stand up he'd ever seen. I wouldn't go as far as saying it cost Big Country the fight but it really was bad.

Disagree with you about Shields though, GSP would take him comfortably but his BJJ and wrestling is strong enough to be competitive against anybody else in the division.

I think the following people would comfortably handle Shields at 170:

GSP, Fitch, Alves, Diego, Koscheck, BJ Penn (at 170), and probably Serra, Hughes, Swick, and Karo would give him trouble.

But I do think he's a bit overrated. I hope he comes to the UFC, because there is nothing in EliteXC for him.
