Well, you can think like that, but in reality, we have all come from supporting other clubs. I mean if you seriously think about it, not many people can really be AFL fans without following a team.
Myself, I have been a West Coast fan all my life, since their inception. People can call me a turncoat if they like, but the simple fact of the matter is that I will always have a soft spot for the Eagles, you cant simply take that out of a supporter, its embedded.
The fact is, I made the decison about 12 months ago that I would get on board this team. It wasnt a decision that was instant, I dwelled on it for a long time. However the simple fact of the matter is practicality. I for one, was getting sick of watching football on television, and attending one game at the Gabba every season. Its not practical. - Also there is nothing better than being in a crowd with your own supporters cheering and screaming - something attending Subiaco many times reinforced to me!
Now that I have children of my own, I want them to have every chance of attending football games, functions etc, plus there is the added bonus of being involved with a club at its inception, not many Melbourne fans can have that pleasure - the downside is that a culture also has to be formed, but that can be bred easily with sucess and good coaching, something the GC will do well no doubt.
Far be it from me to tell you who to support, but sometimes you have to go with your heart (and your head) in deciding whats right for you. However, if you dont jump on GC, feel free to stick your head in and have a chat:thumbsu:

I've no plans to abandon West Coast but it will be interesting to see how my interest develops with the GCFC, as I do plan to watch every single game they play at home in the next two years before they even debut on the big stage.

I've been an Essendon member since 1993. My heart and sole is red and black. I've just moved from Melbourne to Brisbane and I'll be supporting the Gold Coast. I'll also be keeping my 18 game reserved seat membership. I'll be supporting the Gold Coast as my 2nd team. How ever Essendon will always be number 1. It'll also be good to support a brand new team instead of a team that has been renamed.

I moved from Footscray. I've been there since June 1993 so i had a soft spot for them. In June this year i moved to Brisbane.

At least with Bluey coaching there is a strong link between old and new...

too true, I think there are many similarities between the clubs, and I expect GC to try to emulate the WC model, which is professionalism, leadership, and great structure in the board.
