For GODS sake... RETIRE!! - And STAY retired!

They've done more farewell tours than they have regular tours.

Someone really should do us all a favour and ensure that this is their final farewell tour.

They have farewell tours as often as Elvis releases new albums.

Probably making up for the 20 years or so they were on hiatus after 1966. And I doubt they'll count the years when The Seekers was headed by Julie Anthony.

And by the way, did you know that Seekers' member Athol Guy ran as an Independent for Federal Parliament in the 1990 election?

If he'd won, I doubt whether we would've seen any reunion tours at all.

I bet his electorate are regretting not voting for him now... ;)

Seekers' farewell tours are part of our great Australian culture ... as Aussie as vegemite ... as Aussie as Dawn Fraser.

Their music is part of the soundtrack to our history ... just like Norman May calling the test cricket on the A.B.C.

The Seekers are as Australian as Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.

Y'know ... you wouldn't be an Aussie
You wouldn't be true blue
Unless the Seekers' music
Meant something to you

The Seekers are Australian
I'll give it to you straight
The Seekers are as Australian as ...
.... "How ya goin', mate."

If you couldn't mark a ball
If you couldn't hold a bat
If you don't know where that dog
On his tucker box is at ...

Then you wouldn't be an Aussie
You wouldn't be true blue
Unless the Seekers' music
Meant something to you.

May the Seekers have many more farewell tours. They are as Australian as John Howard ... or Chips Rafferty ...

... they're as Australian as ANZAC Day ... and about as relevant.

Gotta go now ... my flight to Beijing is leaving shortly.

I saw a snippet of their press conference on the telly the other night and one of the members was aked what the on-going appeal of their music was.

The answer was along the lines of "it reminds people of a less complicated, simpler and happy time in Australia"

Ahh yes. Those great days of the mid 60's. White Australia, Aboriginies not counted as human beings, women kept in the kitchen, 6 o'clock closing, gearing up to Vietnam, Meat and 3 veges, Bolte, Menzies...

Their ongoing appeal speaks volumes.

LOL... YES.

I also can't count the number of times Mr. Bankrupt has had liquidation and "closing down" sales. You can only "close down" so many times, before it gets boring... ;)

What a great concept for a band.

You form a band and call it The Liquidators. You then get your first gig and promote it as your farewell gig. And then you get another gig and promote that as a farewell gig ... and so on. Then you do THE big farewell tour ... take a short break to count your money ... and then return for a series of farewell gigs.

You could even bring out an album ... "the Best of the Liquidators". Followed up by "The Liquidators: a retrospective". And then, as a Christmas special, "The All-Time Greatest Hits of the Liquidators" ... but the piece-de-resistance, of course, is the special "LIVE ... Liquidators Farewell Gig" album.

**Let's Liquidate**

Replace the word "Liquidators" with "Seekers" and I think you have REALITY. :)
