I really cringe everytime I hear his sign-off.
Clip goes for 22 seconds and is the only one I could find. Doesn't show just how much he really emphasises the first name like an animalistic mating call, whilst racing through his last two names like he's scared of saying them.

Still love SBS and its news though.

Finally a thread. I thought I was going crazy when I hear him. You can almost cut the tension with a knife when he signs off a news piece.

The first time I heard this guy sign off I thought "WTF?" No normal person says their name like that. Imagine meeting someone at a party, you ask their name and they reply "TUIPOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAA." You woud run away from them.
For a while I thought maybe it was a foreign language and Tuipoloa meant 'see you viewers same time tomorrow' or whatever.

There was a thread on this a few months ago.
Funny stuff. I originally thought he was just having a bit of fun, but the more SBS news you watch, the more you realise that he's actually being serious.

I asked an NZ journalist when the TVNZ crew were out here covering the netball series and she said that it's actually his tribal names stuck in there as well.

Ah, okay, thanks. I suppose it might be less infuriating in future, now that I know there's a reason for it.
