Brent is a good player, alot of geelong supporters (myself included) are very disappointed to see him depart.
He will be more than serviceable for your club when he is over the ACL, and you had him at a very good price.
Have faith in prissa, he will be well worth the wait.:thumbsu:

Are you serious? If true it poses the question - Where on earth is Kelvin Sheedy?:eek::cool:

Unfortunately, I can only comment on what I have seen.
I do not have the ability to know the thoughts of every Essendon supporter :(

It was a joke, buddy. I am just surprised that Kelvin hasn't been giving us the rundown about what a mistake the deal was.

Oh my bad, I read it wrong.
Thought you were saying that Kelvin Sheedy had said the trade was bad. :o

Howdy :D
I'm not particularly happy about this trade.
From what I've seen of Prismall I don't think he's what we need. We have an abundance of mediocre mids.
Allthough I must confess last year he was one I suggested we go after with all we can but I think I got him confused with Selwood in a few games so I overrated his abilities. I watched him closely this year and I wasn't impressed.
I hope he proves me wrong but at least he's a better option than either Dyson or Nash.

i have no doubt he will shine and be the one to take dysons place in the midfeild

Its taken a while for me to comment due to my frustration regarding this trade, and the raw deal that we got... Having said that - Pris is/was close to my favourate player and I wish him all the best at Essendon.
As far as getting shafted goes, Geelong only has itself to blame - we played Byrnes and Tenace ahead of him for the last 4 years for Gods sake! I don't blame him for looking elsewhere.
If any of you are questioning Prismall's ability, let me assure you the Bombers have secured a player that IMO will be a star - maybe not next year, but when he recovers fully and starts to peak, you will understand why many Geelong supporters are absolutely gutted at this trade. His disposal by foot is his best attribute IMO; can bang it long, accurately while the ball doesn't go above 3 meters off the ground, making him a leathal weapon when hitting up targets inside 50. I could go on.. but you will no doubt see what I mean early next year - all going well.
Congrats on securing a player that will dominate in your midfield for the next 8+ years.

As good as the deal looks, if you put things in perspective...
2004 National Draft
Pick 30: Andrew Lee (Ess)
Pick 32: Brent Prismall (Geel)
Fast forward to end of 2008...Andrew Lee delisted. We pick up Prismall for pick 39. I don't think we can claim our recruiting staffs have done well on this one. Because they haven't.
Put that a side, finally we've traded for a good player. Hopefully his knee doesn't become a hurdle.
Unfortunately, I can only comment on what I have seen.

Just not good enough...

Great pick up for Bombers !!!!!!
Been following Geelong all my life (50 yrs) & Joel Selwood is the BEST young footballer to play for Geelong, including David Clarke. Gazza Jnr, Bartel, etc. Unfortunately for Brent, Joel has taken his position otherwise he would have been alot further developed than what he is at present.
In time I have always felt he would be in the top 20% midfielders in the competition & barring injury I'm sure this will be the case. Interesting to read some Bomber fan comments of whether Brent is a inside or outside player or simply a fringe player - WRONG !!!!! The kid's got real CLASS & COURAGE & will be able to do it all ways like the rest of Geelong's midfield. No disrespect to any of the bomber midfield but there is not one of your bomber midfielders that would get a look in at Geelong with the exception of McVeigh. Brent has been one of the unluckiest young footballers who has ever played the game, he simply needs GAME TIME, once he adapts to the tempo of AFL on a week to week basis he will become within 18 months your most constructive midfielder. GREAT BUY !!!!!
Best of luck to Brent & to the Bombers - When you had your better players on the park during the season you played some exciting football.
LOVE Ryder, he's a gun !!!!

I'm not a huge fan of Pris by any means, but I'm stoked at this trade. The positive opinions from Cats fans are very encouraging.
hmm with all this positivity about this trade it is just setting up for some disappointment.
hopefully not though.

don't see how you could be unhappy with this. You'd be pretty lucky to get a guy with pick 39 who would be a more certain bet to have a good career than Prismall

I'm not unhappy. Pretty fair trade at the moment methinks but it could change either way. I don't think Prismall is as great as most people are hyping, as I have said before.

even if he's not, he still gives us added depth
Well done Essendon. Picked him up cheap and he'll be good for you. I'll have to watch more Essendon games now, he was one of my favourite players too. :(

I don't think many Essendon supporters are really that unrealistic about Prismall.
I mean, I don't think we're talking him up to become a Premiership captain, Brownlow, Norm Smith medalist and multiple B&F winner.
But the facts are, he has shown himself to be a handy footballer and considering we only had to use pick 39 to get him, there really isn't that much pressure.
He's not much different to any other young kid really.
