So can anyone tell me who the pies are really chasing in the trading period?

your guess is as good as mine. no one knows for sure. kane johnson looks set for the tigers so it leaves spider everitt(also looking unlikely), possibly barnaby french and someone half decent for nick davis. wirrpunda has been mentioned(davis to swans, matthew nicks and another player to be determined to wce and wirrpunda to the pies) but wirrpunda has a year to run on his contract despite wanting to get back to VIC. its thought he is willing to honour his final year before a move next trading period. next years trades are going to be big with wirrpunda, judd etc all thought to be leaving. bring on oct 24.

Balmey seems to think Davis is a good chance to stay now. Also apparently after Johnson, not after Everitt.

i'd take johnson over davis anyday but the longer it goes, the more it looks like mick will stay and without a trade for him, im not sure we have anyone we're prepared to give up for johnson. everitt is out of our grasp - probably a good thing. trade negotiations between the bombers and caracella have broken down. likey he'll go to the saints but might be worth looking at. there was talk of chasing tivendale...would we really want him?

Draft picks for Davis. We want a ruckman but none of the available choices hold any appeal so we will try a kid.

I don't know but I'd really like Kane Johnson. Rather optimistic on my behalf but is there anyone you'd be interested in from Sydney???

Didak ain't going anywhere, regardless of picks.

How about Michael O'Loughlin? Have Richmond really offered #4 for Johnson???

haha as if we would trade our future captain in didak, have you seen him play, and maulthouse has been holding him back too. nick davis will stay it looks like, if swans dont offer anything good he will sign a 3 year contract with us. its his damn girlfriend that wants him to move, but everyone else wants him to stay a pie. kane johnson to pies, it looks that way, for draft picks, or nick to swans, micky to crows, kane to pies... we dont really need a ruckman, we may go for one, but wont give up gold for one. also.. adam mcphee looks like becoming a pie. maybe caracella for scottland if nick leaves.

Tigers join `Duck' hunt
By MICHELANGELO RUCCI
18 October 2002

RICHMOND is ready to help Adelaide's campaign to get Wayne "The Duck"
Carey, but it wants resigned Crows midfielder Kane Johnson in return.

And the Tigers have knocked back the proposal the Kangaroos are
understood to have put to Adelaide this week * get Richmond's valuable
first-round draft pick, No. 4, for 24-year-old Johnson and hand it and
the Crows' No. 14 pick over for 31-year-old Carey.

Carey, who is waiting to sign a two-year contract with the Crows,
arrived in Adelaide yesterday afternoon to take up residence.

Richmond's new director of football, Greg Miller, yesterday ruled out
next week trading the No. 4 draft pick for Johnson.

"It's not what we want to do, so we're looking at other options that
allow a three-club deal between us, Adelaide and the Kangaroos," said
Miller, a former chief executive at the Kangaroos.

"We've spoken to Adelaide and sincerely believe something can happen.

"There is a good chance we can link Kane Johnson's trade to us and
Wayne Carey's move to Adelaide. And if we do, we'll be happy * we'll
have got our man (Johnson)."

Richmond's critical part in engineering Carey's trade to Adelaide will
not be consolidated until after the weekend. Miller cannot convene a
match committee meeting at Punt Road until all of Richmond's football
department returns from Ireland and London, where the Tigers played
Essendon in an exhibition match on the weekend.

And there also is a telling meeting in Adelaide next week between
Miller and Richmond utility Jason Torney, who could feature in the
trade.

AFL.com.au apparently think Collingwood are chasing Luke Toia.

I am sure Mick would like Wirrapunda in the line up but their would be little chance of that happening. If Toia ids a possibility I thinkk I would pass he had enormous potential but I believe he is now too injury prone.

If Davis wants to go, let him, there is nothing worse than holding on to a player who wants to be elsewhere. I cant work out what Brisbane are up to with Headland , if forced to stay or out of football they will achieve zilch. Headland has made his mind up to go back to Perth and Matthews must have rocks in his head to try and retain him.

I have in fact never read one of his articles. My proposals are mostly optimism on my behalf and little rumours floating about...

Sydneys first pick is going nowhere, and either is Michael O'Loughlin.

Sydney have already said that they wont trade their first pick (and have pretty much said their 2nd pick is safe)

How will you ever secure a trade?

Nick Davis is worth a first round draft pick...at least!

Ideally the Johnson to Collingwood, Davis to Sydney, O'Loughlin to Crows (+ varying picks) scenario would be a win-win for all concerned.

I am not saying he is or isnt worth that.
I am saying that is what Sydney has said.

From what I have seen and read, Nick Davis wants to be in Sydney more than Sydney want him to be ...

Really it doesnt bother me either way, it would be great to have him here, but if its at too much expensive, then it just isnt worth it.

Hi Guys(and girls),

I heard a rumour last night that we gonna swap Tarrant for Caracella. I hope not, personally i'd be spewing if we did that.

Good midfielders these days are a dime a dozen. For all his faults, I would much prefer Tarrant (a forward) then Caracella.

Also, not sure bout this, but i heard we trying to sign Travis Johnstone. Read it in the paper today. Funny things was a couple of weeks ago a mate told me that he was in the bag.

But hey, i've heard plenty of rumours of our supposed 'signings'. Think i'll wait and see what happens.

Can you's confirm/deny these.

Tarrant for Caracella, no.

Travis Johnstone, not likely.
