Gary Hocking, Shaun Rehn, Peter Jonas, & Wayne Weidemann, have all been mentioned as the new chief for Glenelg.
Unfortunately for the Tigers that Mcdermott thing is on the selection committee
So I expect these fine candidates will be overlooked for one of his mates.

If they're in with a show of getting Jonas, I think they should be moving heaven and earth to get him.

Steven Schwerdt is reckoned to be on that list too.

Of those 5, only 1 has any appropriate coaching experience: Mr. Jonas. However I expect that he'd prefer to return to Central if Clarkson was to be lured over the border.

Weidemann has some appeal as a cult figure, though I concede that this doesn't mean he can coach. There is no evidence that any of the others could coach. I hope that the Bays can come up with a few better prospects.

As for the suggestion that the selection panel would yield to cronyism: I've heard (and I stress this is a rumour) that the reason Honor got the job in the first place was due to having relations (in law) in high places.

I concur with GoSouth: If Jonas IS interested, the Bays would be fools to think twice. Sign him before he changes his mind!

I didn't think he had any mates left!
I'd get Jonas if I were the Bays as well Uncle Steve!

Gary Hocking would be the worst possible appointment. Has anyone seen any evidence of intelligence from this man?

Maybe a thug like Daryl Rady would be the go.... ;)

Well, I gotta ask Mac: what's your beef with Dazza? You also had him at FP in the "dud" dreamteam you recently posted, IIRC.

He was one of my favourites when I was a kid. The guy had character. Lucky #13 guernsey and a trademark Ned Kelly beard. Fond memories of him doing a cartwheel in the mud after dobbing a goal at the Bay.

He's still around the traps. My old man runs training courses (mostly computer shyte) - within the last year or so he reckons Rady turned up at one of his courses.

So - what's your memories of the guy?

I won't hear a bad word said about 'Dazzler'. His brother was the drummer in Where's The Pope? for a number of years.

Well, it was mostly a "dud" dream team, but there were a few good players in it on a personality basis. And Daryl Rady was certainly distinctive.

Glenelg had a solid roving division in those days - Rady, Peter McInerney, Craig Marriott, Greg Bennett, the bloke who won the Magarey. Bit of a goalsneak Rady was, too.
