nicknames for our sporting teams is sometimes cringeworthy.

Agree with Peter North.

They're the Australian XI or the Australian Cricket Team, that's how they should stay forever.

I hate hearing the Aussie Netball Team be called the 'Diamonds' - what a shit nickname with no meaning.

No nickname as it's not really compared to another similar sport.

I don't mind the nickname the Socceroos though.

The nicknames are a national embarrassment. Opals? Matildas? Embarrassing. Leave nicknames to the dud sports that need lame gimmicks to attract interest.

bushrangers, warriors, bulls, redbacks - all lame.

Could imagine theyd choose the platypusses, echidnas or koalas or something - no thanks.

I reckon any nickname that can't be drawn should be banned.

(And regardless the cricket team shouldn't have one)

The Bangladesh Tigers is a pretty cool name though!

If I had to nominate a name for them it would be "The Australian Ego's" with Ricky as the mascot.
