View Full Version : Practice Match on Saturday

Shinboners
15 Feb 2001, 09:08
Anyone going to the practice match on Saturday morning at the Western Oval at 11am? I think I'll make the effort and trek out that way. Anyone else who is going, e-mail me or post here and maybe we could catch up.

Also, if Westy Boy and Walshy are reading, I think you guys live in the area so I hope you can pop down as well.

I'll be there Shinners.

Hey, did the club contact you about player sponsorship?

Shinboners

Yep, the club sent me the info. I'll post something on it by the end of this week.

I'll e-mail you with my phone details if you want to SMS me at the game on Saturday and meet up.

I too are going to the practice match on Saturday, and I also have Optus. If anyone wants to, I'm willing to tape the game on Friday night, and hand over the tape on Saturday. If anyone is interested email me on Aussie_roo96@hotmail.com to make necessary arrangements.

You're a good man, Aussie_Roo. The fellowship on this board is fantastic, & I don't mean that in a churchy-god bothering type way!!

I certainly intend to go to the match & I know who Malibu is so I'll find youse somehow.

C'mon 35eye, I always thought you to be the churchy type.

Don't be misled by the chunky crucifix & rosary beads around my neck.

Its just my Madonna-retro faze I'm going through.

Next week I'll be Boy George.

As long as you don't dress up like Marilyn (Boy George's boyfriend) or Marilyn Manson, I'll still been seen with you.

If you gals are going to do dress ups, can I request some Sixties icons....like Diana Rigg, Brigitte Bardot, France Gall, or Audrey Hepburn.

Of course, you'll need some sunnies and a scarf so we'll look the part when whizzing around in the MG. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Sixties Icons Shinboners I thought that was the Beatles, Elvis, Sandra Dee ,Connie Francis and Anne Margaret, even Cher was around then. Maybe the girls could dress up as Cher .

Nah, dressing up as Cher is Gazza Lyons job.

Maybe I should have said, "stylish sixties icons for rude, moody, introverted, and fashionable boys like me who were born ten years too late". http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Oh, and you can add Twiggy and Catherine Denevue to that list as well http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif

Should get a chance to get there before our match at Colonial, Shinboners. I'll email ya tomorrow.

If I don't get a chance to, just look out for a short arsed woggy looking bloke lurking around Whitten Oval (And I'm not libba! http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif).

BTW- Who's playing? http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'll be there. Look for the bogan description posted in a topic on the General Talk board http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I may have a beer can in my hand.
I may even have one in each hand.

I can make a confirmed sighting of Darky and I am happy to say that he is every bit of the man that he claims to be http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Also great to meet Rickschick, Malibu, and 35Eye.

As for the team, Daniel Motlop always seemed to be where the ball was, even if he wasn't actually getting it, Shane Clayton looks as if he's put on a little bit of muscle, Petrie did okay, Lasscock got plenty of the ball, and I noticed Corey Jones and Mark Ainley getting amongst the play as well. We should also get Mark Hilton onto the senior list ASAP.

Couldn't agree more about that Hilton comment.

What a talent!!!

For the gals, there's a Jess Sinclair look-a-like running around with the Murray Kangaroos as well.

The MK boys put in a fantastic effort today - it was great to see them play after such a long break!

It was great to see Mark Hilton in great form! http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

PS It was nice to meet Rickchick, Darky and Shinboners

True to my fickle form, I'm off Mark Hilton now.

Corey Jones is where its at.

Wouldn't mind a team list to work out who the others were.

Spidey, did you get a footy record at Friday night's game & does it contain complete player lists?

Quite a free-flowing game, with the Roos getting up by a few points in the end.
It was nice to be able to run onto the ground and have a kick after the game and between quarters. Aaaah suburban football http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif.
Nice meeting some people off the boards too, Shinners, Malibu, Hilton, 35eye, Walshy. My sombre mood was a result of my beer-starved palate being as dry as a camel's clacker - couldn't see where any beer was on sale, had to make do with getting some on the way home.

"getting some" = getting some beer http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/wink.gif hehe

Getting up by a few points, I would have thought we were at least 5 goals up. Our crop of new recruits all impressed. How about those marks taken by Petrie and Smith in the 3rd qtr. All up it looks promising for the Murray Kangaroos this year.

According to my stats gove or take a goal to them N.M.F.C 15-6 THEM 10-10

To surprise us Jon Mccormick #41 got at least 3 and played well . He must have spent a bit of time in those hot summer months working on his disposal.

The one to watch for me was "Harro" he looks the goods.

It was also good to catch up with The Skull and get the run down on the fight friday night . Not much in it according to him.

Go The Skull !!!

Well, what a turn around, Doc.

Was it not you who blamed our loss to Box Hill last year on J McCormick? hehe What was that name you called him?

He was pretty forgettable last year and it wasn't until after the game yesterday that we managed to confirm who he was, So his number is etched on my mind now.

Just gotta get a nickname for him. With that sexy crop of hair, maybe we could call him Fabio.

According to one of the trainers we won by a goal. I thought it would have been a bit more than that. Corey Jones and Daniel Motlop were excellent. I also noticed Denis Pagan and Geoff Walsh there as well. They must have come home on the red eye special from Perth.

I almost fell over Ryan Pagan walking into the rooms on the way in - he had his arm in a sling. I almost threw up when I saw the billboard over head of Chris Grant aka mannequin man and the rest of the ferals on the board.

Hopefully we won't have to go back to Whitten Oval in the near future.
