I have two favorite goals...

That will never be forgotten...

The first was back in the 80's... not quite sure when... a Friday Night Game against Essendon... Phill Krakeour had the ball on the boundary 50 metres out evaded two tackles and slotted it through... before being dumped by a third opponant...

And the other was Johnny Longmire's first goal in our 125th celebration match against Collingwood... Carey was out and Johnny had to kick the goals... he took the ball fifty out... did his big u-turn... arc whatever you want to call it then slammed it through... he was so excited... his firsts were in the air...

Ian Fairley's goal in the '96 Grand Final. What a way to end your career.

Wayne Carey's shark from a ruck contest in the '94 final vs Hawthorn at Waverley.

Shinboner, I with you on the Fairley goal. It's one of my favourite moments in all sports. Did he Fairley score a goal with his first kick in VFL, because if he did he'd have a unique record.

Also all the North Goals in the final quarter of the 1993 game against the Bombers. I've probably watched this game more often than any of the Grand Finals. Some of Roberts runs through the back line were inspirational and Carey and Longmire were UNBELIEVABLE in that last quarter. By the end of the match we were toying with them. Unfortunately, come finals time, the match and results was all but forgotten.

We've all seen many a magic Wayne moment, but even my jaw dropped when I saw that banana goal from the boundary line vs Essendon in Rd 17, 1999. ****, this bloke is good.

That banana goal....how cool was that? He looked so damn relaxed doing it.

Another finals goal, and it wasn't the goal, but the amount of work he put in to get it. It was vs Port Power in the '99 Finals. Carey leads to the pocket and it gets ignored. So he sprints back to the goalsquare, takes the contested mark, and gets the goal.

Mark Roberts seventy metre torp against Carlton, 1993, during a hail storm was pretty good.

The Fairley goal would have to be the most emotional - that was very special. the Carey banana goal was just freakish (eat your heart out Daicos and Ablett!)

Back in the mid 90's (95 but not quite sure) we were playing Essendon on a Friday night, and in the last quarter, we just kept kicking goals from the boundary line. For memory, I know that Matty Armstrong kicked one, and Matty Capuano as well....

Just thought of another one - Shannon Grant 1999 GF in the first qtr, not quite on the boundary and dribbled it through on his left.

Corey McKernan - in the 125th Anniversary game against Collingwood - kicked one from inside the centre square at the G.

Wayne Carey - 1994 Qualifying Final against Hawthorn, with about 2 mins to go, kicks one from 55m out to level the scores.

Good memory Aussie Roo. The Matty Armstrong one was going to be mine. I recall he was in the Southern Stand 50m line and kicked a right foot banana (was he a left footer?)as he was falling backwards.

Apart from that, the Ducks goal against Essendon and McKernans goal in the third quarter against West Coast (95 final series)a long bomb from outside 50 when we were 6 goals down. Lifted us and helped us to a win.

I also recall a game at Waverley where Mark Roberts kicked a goal - the ball bounced in front of the behinds area and turned with a leg break that Warney himself couldn't execute in a million years.
Admittedly, it could have been a reserves game (around 1994-95 I think), but I can still mentally picture how that ball landed and turned.

All of the goals mentioned are special. Especially Phil Krakouer's and Duck's. However his effort on the left in the '96 prelim against Brisbane deserves a mention. But how about Matty Larkin's sausage against West Coast on a cold Friday night in 1989? It won goal of the year and left me spellbound!!

For sentiment's sake, I bawled my eyes out after Ian Fairley's goal in the 96 GF. Still get the lump in my throat watching it on video.

Schwatta's major vs Richmond in 1995 (a baulk, 2 bounces and a booming 60m kick) had the crowd going crazy, and several of Winnie's goals are all great memories.

yeah I only remember Matty's goal from what I saw on the TV... that night I crashed my SS Torana and listen to the game on the SE Freeway... I was so pissed off...
