Just saw this over the weekend on cable TV. Came out in 2006 but I don't recall seeing much promotion for it, slipped under my radar.
Fairly trippy movie but I liked it. It received favorable reviews but did not do so well at the box office. Anyone else seen it?

It's a decent film, very stylish obviously.

The animation is very well done but it kind of made me a bit queezy watching it though, not sure why. Maybe it's just easier to watch that style in short bursts rather than a whole film?

I had the same feeling. The drug content probably didn't help either.

Maybe. There were times when I was watching it that it felt like something out of the Animatrix.

One of my favourite movies, from my favourite director.
I thought the animations were all quite smooth, but a few people who watched it with me did say the "scramble suit" made them a little queasy.
I saw it at the Nova when it came out and am pretty sure it didn't have a general release in Australia.
Very underrated movie. The performances of Keanu and RDJ were insane, as was the way they used the rotoscoping for the animations.

Yeah, it was pretty good. If it slipped under your radar, you probably missed this one as well:

Also directed by Richard Linklater using the rotoscoping technique. It's been out on DVD for a while now. You could probably pick it up as a weekly.

Anyone (other than me) read the book upon which the movie is based? The book is very surreal - which isn't surprising, given the author.

If you haven't read the book, A Scanner Darkly, read it!

I haven't seen the film, because I don't get to go to the cinema any more, having two young children at home. If anyone has read the book and seen the film, care to comment on how closely the film follows the book?
