Im trying to think of all the specialist batsmen that have made their debut for Australia so far this century. I can't think of many of them.. here are some that I can remember.

1. Katich
2. Clarke
3. Love
4. Jaques
5. Rogers
6. Hodge
7. Hussey

there must be more.

never mind I actually found a list. Seems there really is only 10 batsmen in the last 13 years that have debuted.

Ponting (1995)
Elliott (1996)
Lehmann (1998)
Katich (2001)
Love (2002)
Clarke (2004)
Hussey (2005)
Hodge (2005)
Jaques (2005)
Rogers (2008)

strikes me as hardly any, considering the amount of bowlers that come and go.

Doesn't surprise me. We have dominated attacks for years and years. Hayden, Slater, Langer, Martyn, S Waugh, M Waugh to name a few handy batsman.

Our depth in the past is highlighted by players like Love making a ton (albeit against Bangladesh) in his last match and never playing again and blokes like Lehmann struggling to cement a place in the side as their was so much pressure around him from very good players.

What has happened to Rogers?

Gone to (poached by) Victoria. Would have Jaques and probably Marsh ahead of him at this stage.

Love is/was an absolute gun, pure and skillful and great to watch. Extremely unlucky.

There's been some absolute muppets debut in the same period.

Shaun Young? lol.

What happened to that guy in the late 90s who took like 7/70 on debut?
