Watching the last test match i cant help but think this is the end of a era. So in this hypothetical situation the ACB has decided to organise a match between the last generation of players (late 90's early 2000's) against the modern team (and this isnt at the previous era's best but rather if they played a match in a months time after some training). These are the teams

Current Day Team
1. Hayden
2. Katich
3. Ponting (c)
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. Watson
7. Haddin (k)
8. White
9. Lee
10. Johnson
11. Clark

Previous Era Team
1. Slater
2. Langer
3. M.Waugh
4. Taylor (yes not his usual spot but he wasnt a nature opener)
5. S.Waugh
6. Lehmann
7. Gilchrist
8. Warne
9. Kasprowicz
10. Gillespie
11. McGrath

How would the previous era team go against the modern team?

You only have to look at the bowling department to see the previous era team would destroy our current team.

The older team at its prime would obviously shit on our current team.

This is a stupid poll, the 2nd XI you've mentioned is far, far better than our current one.

But remember that this hypothetical game is played later this year which means the previous era team is considerably older than the current era team. McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist, Gillespie and Lehmann are all in their late 30's and everyone esle in in their early 40's.

Well then the first XI because some in the 2nd XI haven't played in years and would be troubled by Bings pace.
