Good Luck to Brett Backwell. Very nice guy. My 3 year old son loved him at Carlton. Hope he gets a chance to really prove himself.

ahhh sheet!!! Well that frees up some dosh for the tige's to gout and poach more players :D
Good Luck to Byrney, thought he was pretty stiff to be cut by the Crows in the first place. He was very good at Glenelg last year and i'm sure will continue to be a fine player in the WAFL.

Good luck ?????????? Bugger Byrne if this is true. He took on a captains role and should be in it for the long haul !

Any idea why Byrne is going, if indeed this is true? Job reasons? Roped by the ol' hairy lasso? It can't be for money.
As Byrne made the SANFL state league team, then he'd be a good chance to also make the WAFL team. He could very well be lining up against SA in next year's state league match :(

Will you be requiring extra supplies of coffee beans for the occasion? ;)

He very nearly left last year. He was only talked into staying after Glenelg managed to convince him that this was the best place (SA) to play to get back into the AFL. He is from WA originally so I'm guessing it's the family/friends thing :D

Which club(s) in WA?
I looked at footygoss, but couldn't find Byrne. Backwell was rumoured to be Subiaco (nb footygoss ain't that reliable a source)

I saw Byrne has signed on the South Fremantle page.
And had that confirmed from someone I know at the club.
So, Voice of Treason, maybe you are the unreliable one.
I know Backwell went over to Perth before this season and nearly played at Subiaco, and thats where I saw the article on him.
Byrne is originally from Wagga way I think, as he was with Syney for a while I definately know that.
And also, Voice of Treason, I havnt come across anything that hasnt been vindicated on this Footygoss site thats why i visit it daily, as it is like a wires news service.

Don't insult me, you ignorant 10 posted peasant, I asked a perfectly reasonable question. Thank you so much for answering it.
In terms of reliability, perhaps you'd like to chew on this:

And the fact that you believe a wire news service is necessarily reliable puts you up there with Mr. Gullible. You probably get the West Australian or Adelaide Advertiser home-delivered for its quality political coverage.

Voice of reason or Visro...which is it ?
The trading period hasnt even started, and judging by its past surprise elements no one is sacred, as i am sure any footy follower with some knowledge agree.
The trades mentioned have been seen ( quite a few of them) on the newspaper websites so maybe ease back just because one of your clubs players may have been mentioned.
I did notice on Footygoss that they followed the trade rumour posting with another posting saying that it was not the views of the website and that they will be displaying a "Trade Preview" on October 22nd.
maybe you should give us yours.
And as for Denise ( or whoever it was ) talking about credibility.
Look in your own backyard first.
Blimey the site has delivered a myriad of FACT that has been on the ball and i certainly am not complaining as i like a lot of other internet users want to get as much footy news as I can, and this site delivers it.

Shouldn't that be "we", not "they"?
James Byrne?
Wasn't he shot at Glenrowen??
Byrne is in the U.S. at present.
A mate at South Fremantle on the board told me they had signed him as long as they dont have to sell their soul with a transfer fee.
So the Footygoss website is on the money.

Byrne needs a kick up the *** for demanding Glenelgs captaincy last year when deep down he knew he was not 100% happy at the club and that he was uncertain about coming back in 2003 !

IIRC I don't think he did 'demanded the captaincy'. Hele had already resigned (as captain) as he was not sure how many games he would play with his dodgey shoulder. The captaincy was one of the things the club was able to use to retain Byrne for another year.
I don't think that was a bad decision.
Easty, Should the club have let him go last year?

The captaincy is something that should be earned, not thrown around to keep players at a club !
The club was wrong in doing that.
