I've been thinking about some possible trades for the Rooboys. We are getting a bit old, and maybe it would be time to trade for some depth at the end of the year.
If we trade Byron Pickett, for say, Ben Johnson and Ben Kinnear from Collngwood, this would give us some youthful exuberance and zest. It will also give us some flair and imagination as well as an aura of unpredictability.
I would also like to see us get rid of that hack Mckernan. He is so frustrating to watch. If we were to trade him, for two young guns, like Tim Elliot from St.KIlda (he's 24) or maybe Brett Knowles, it would sharpen us up a bit.
And I know Brent Harvey wins the ball a bit, but his skills are just not at some of the elite players levels. Why not trade him for young Chad Cornes from the Power. He is 5 years younger and I have heard great things about him. What do you think?

I agree Kanga man.
Brett Knowles is a very promising young player. I don't know about swapping Harvey for Cornes though. I would have thought a player like Hamish Simpson from the cats would fit the bill as a replaceent for Harvey. I see a lot Of Cats games, and I love his wok ethic. He has a grat attitude. Past Cats players have done very well for us, so why not Hamish Simpson?
The Cats alos have another good young player in Cameron Ling, who I wouldn't mind getting my hands on. He's a real goer. Maybe at the end of 2002, when Carey is 31, could be the opportunity to trade the great man, to get a couple of young players of Lings' quality.
Waynes reputation is so great, that even if he has "had it" by the end of 2002, we will still be able to get some young guns for him. Perhaps 2 or 3 players im exchange for him. Imagine if we got Darren Hulme (age 23), Heath Culptt (age 22) and Sam Cranage (age 21) from the Blues in exchange for Carey.

Interesting.
Now that tyou say, it we could trade Wayne at the end of 2001. But we would HAVE to get three players for him. The future of the club wouldbe secured. I like the idea of him going to Carlton. That gesture might entice them to give us their "ownership shares" back at no extra charge. But really, we would be laughing all the way to the bank with that cash, plus three of their young guns.
I applaud the club in aquiring Calthorpe and Olarenshaw too. Formr Bombers are usually very good players. They have a promising plyer over at Windy Hill called Judd Lalich, who doesn't get much of a go, due to their depth. I'd love to have him over at Arden street. Maybe we could swap him for David King. Kingy is 29 now.
If we can't get Lalich for King, then how about young Matthew Robbins from the Western Bulldogs?

Yes i like Matthew Robbins. What about bringing Libba back for one last season at his true home where he started football. I know he is getting old, but he always delivers the goods.
We have had a problem in defence over the last 2 years. We concede too many points. Libba, with his wonderful tackling skills could teach some of the boys a bit of a lesson. I was thinking of trading Colbert and perhaps Dylan Smith (very undisciplined and has shown nothing yet) for Libba. Just so we can have him one glorious season in the mighty blue and white! Certainly Colbert anyway.

Perhaps, but I still think King for Matthew Robbins is a go. Get rid of that show pony King, for a bit of steel and mental toughness. The more i think about it, the more I like idea of Wayne going to the Blues as an "Oldie" in exchange for Cranage, Culpitt and Hulme. Whta about Glenn Manton? He's younger than Carey. They could keep the promising Sanm Cranage, and we could get Culpitt, Hulme and Manton...... just for that extra bit of experience.
But lets just wait and see how Wayne goes this year. But we have to think of the future, remember.
Come to think of it, I don't know why the club targeted Saverio Rocca. Why not target Scott Cummings? He's a former Coleman Medallist and renowned as one of the toughest players in the AFL.

Yes gee what a high level of satire. Must be the Gwim Reaper, or a similarly sad bastard, in a pathetic disguise. Obviously someone struggling to come to terms with the Roos ongoing success.

Can't you guys contribute? Some very good points were made between myself and Roos rule. Some young guns in exchange for a quality older player (various types) is something we should consider.

I would have thought that the trading of Colbert and McKernan is something all Roos fans were waiting for. Everyone is tradeable. It just depends on who you get in exchange.
This is actually semi-amusing. It's also amusing that someone has taken the time to have a coversation between er... themselves.

Yeah, they say it's the first sign of insanity. So therefore, Insanity = Kanga Man = Roos rule = Dim24?
I chose to ignore this guy on the Official forum. And I will do the same in here.
