Victoria may have snuck first innings points but we are 0/20 in our 2nd and would have to be favourites to win outright. With Davison to steamroll victoria on the crumbling Adelaide oval pitch on the last 2 days !
Mick Miller, 7 wickets for SA in the 1st innings !

What were the first innings scores?
And I wouldnt hold my breath about Davison running through anyone no matter how bad the pitch is.

Considering we were 7 for 94 at stumps last night and still needed another 40-50 runs to take first innings points, I think it was a good effort from the Victorian tail to get the total past SA.
Go Vics!!

Looking at Victoria's batting lineup, it's no wonder they struggled to overhaul South Australia's meek first-innings total. There is simply not enough depth there.
For one thing, Ian Harvey is a luxury the Vics can't afford at Number 6; he has a first-class batting average of just 32.
The attempt of playing two all-rounders at 6 & 7 (Harvey and White) is especially dangerous when you look at what's below them. Berry has never been a particularly good batsman and the three pace bowlers are more or less bunnies.
With South Australia looking to set a big total to defend, Victoria is going to seriously struggle to win this match.

SA 1/241. Johnson 130no and Blewett 86no. One things for sure with the first innings' over quickly there's plenty of time to get an outright! SA would have to be favourites at this stage with that scoreline and, yes, wagstaff, that Vic batting line up looks very brittle if Elliott and/or Hodge don't score big.
1/268 at stumps, a lead of 264 with 9 wickets in hand. The Vics have their work cut out, I can see the Redbacks going for a total of about 400-450 and then declare at about tea and that gives both sides a chance of victory. That's providing of course that the Vics don't rip through the remaining batsmen.

They have a great lead. Unless there's a mirical, I don't see the Vics winning from here. :( Hopefully we can make it a draw, somehow, because then we get first innings points!! :D

I really like Greg Blewett and hope he does well...just not in this match.
I like the sound of Rummans and Hodge together for the season.
Go Vics.

Never underestimate a captain of someone's country, even though he is captain of Canada.
And he got Cheesy Arnberger out as well. If we don't lose outright you can all just look at the scorecard and then see that we got 2 and SA got 0. Certainly a good game to kick off the season. Bunky Hodge and Rummo can certainly bat and Nick Jewell is in form with the willow, a good Adelaide Oval track, I can see us surviving the day.

Yeah because Victoria suck !
Vic now 7 down,
Ryan Harris got 3 wickets - reasonably good young player, nothing special though.
Harvey putting up good resitance, as was Berry before the wicket was taken.
Very interesting to see if SA can get the three wickets in time. They should, but you never know.

And a part time pie thrower in Ben Johnson took 3/4, that' really rubbing it in.
Matty Elliott has quit as Vice Captain, after just one match! He says it's affecting his batting. At least he can admit it, I suppose.
Revenge in the One Dayer tomorrow!

If we're going to make an impression in the Pura Cup this season we desperately need to find a couple of decent batsman to help out the likes of Matthew Elliott and Brad Hodge. Our bowling is ok, it's just our batting that costs us.
We'll win tomorrow in the ING Cup. :D
Go Vics!!

Welcome back to the Adelaide Oval and welcome to BigFooty members for the first time today for this ING Cup match between South Australia and Victoria.
Victoria won the toss earlier this morning and elected to bowl and what a marvellous performance from the Victorians, bowling South Australia out for a dismal total of 192 off just 44 overs. Pretty p*ss poor effort that, and only an absolute disaster will prevent Victoria winning their opening match of this ING Cup series.
Blewett and Fitzgerald put on a marvellous opening stand of 107 from just 119 balls but from then on it was a procession of South Australian wickets as the Victorian bowlers ripped through them quicker then a groom rips through his bride's wedding dress on their wedding night!
Anyway, I'll be back with an update of the Victorian run chase later on this afternoon, and I look forward to your company then.

We gave you the match. Poor shot selection started by Higgs led to this disgraceful performance against an ordinary side.
But if I had to choose one to win it would have been the shield game, bit like saying would you rather win the ashes series or the one day series. The long version of the game is the more important one at the end of the day. Maybe now they can use today to motivate them for the return 1 dayer in Melbourne next time. Disgraceful.

Ordinary side???
Elliott, Hodge, Harvey, Berry, Inness, Rummans would all be regulars in any other state side.
It wasn't Higgs' fault they lost, what about the bowling of Mathew Inness? He put the brakes on the SA innings during the middle. Elliott showed what a class player he is and Jewell shows promise. Hodge and Harvs just cruised to the end. You were outclassed.

Elliott,Hodge and Harvey ..................yes. But Rummans would not be a regular in any state side and Berry is nowhere near where he used to be.
SA have just as much class. As shown in the four day game. Higgs played a stupid shot when it was not needed as we were cruising along. His dismissal started the rot.
