This is the man Australia need right now. We need someone who can swing the ball and who can act as a strike bowler that takes wickets.
He would be worth the punt to take over as the fourth front line bowler we need.
It simply is not working the way the team is set up, I just can't see our bowling lineup taking 20 wickets to win a test match.
i think doropolous is the man that should be called up to india.

Just no. Have a look at his test record and you will see why. Has been tried in test. He does not swing the red ball.
but doropolous hasnt played in a test match. he clearly should be given a go.

the ball's colour doesnt affect the swing so much as the type of ball...
in india they use balls that are completely different(inferiour) to kookaburras anyway.
and he can swing it more than any Aussie playing at the moment.
though i've seen Hilfy get a bit of movement, and i think he is traveling alright for tassie...

Yeah the Indians use the SG Balls.

All ODI's are played with Kookaburra balls but Test matchs in India use the SG Test ball.
The SG and Duke Balls have a more pronounced seam but the SG ball gets softer a lot quicker then the Kookaburra balls.

Bracken is currently injured.
bracken has a good int record but that is coz of the white ball, i don't see him as a test bolr

We lose a Test, and the lunatic fringe comes out of the woodwork.

Can you honestly see our bowling attack taking 20 wickets to win either of the next two test matches?
I seriously can't, and this was proven in the first test as well when we couldn't win after being in a commanding position.

How is Nathan Bracken who has a terrible record in test cricket going to change that. People need to face facts here, we just don't have the McGraths, Gillespie's and Warnes any more. Take out 2000 wickets out of any attack and the results will be different. Bracken will not help in tests, he is ordinary. I'd be tempted to give Hilfenhaus a go during the Australian summer (he is not match fit yet)

All I know is the attack the way it is, is going to struggle to take 20 wickets and win a test match.
To me he is our most experienced international cricketer we have back at home and i reckon he would solve the current problem in the bowling department in the immediate future.
Anyway he ain't even fit I am told so maybe the SOS should go out to Shaun Tait instead.

Except Tait is bowling crap in the Shefield Shield:rolleyes:
He shouldn't even be considered yet

Bracken will not suddenly help get 20 wickets, he barely does well at 4 day level, and his test level stats are very ordinary and I am being nice there!
I'd pick Magoffin ahead of Bracken. Although Bracken is from NSW so he's got the edge over Magoffin there.

It's like clockworkWhat took you so long then?
Bracken is a far better bet than White. Better to have a first class swing bowler than a dodgy spinner.
No
Opportunity has knocked numerous times and he was busy getting a new hairstyle or something.

Yeah..it will be even better having a bowler who is rubbish in tests (Bracken)..

If Clark comes home then Bracken is the obvious replacement.

But if the decision is that we need a spinner, who else are we going to pick?
If the horse bolts sometime this summer and we decide that four quicks is the way to go, there would still be others picked ahead of Bracken.

I agree with that statement 100%.
But my rationale for Bracken in these remaining two tests is that I reckon the pitch would suit him perfectly has it has for Zaheer Khan.
Now as for his shocking test record, lets remember his last test was December 2005. That is almost three years ago. In that time he has gone on to become one of the first picked in the ODI team and has improved significantly as a bowler.
The selectors in the past have picked players with more then 3 yrs. in test exile. (Kaspa, Martyn, Hayden, Katich, Lehman) and it has worked before.
Bracken is a far better bet than White. Better to have a first class swing bowler than a dodgy spinner.
What sort of rubbish logic is that?
If the selectors decide to go with four quicks and no spinner (ie drop White) then Bracken would be way down the pecking order... Siddle, Bollinger and Noffke would be ahead of him.

4 pace attack:
Lee
Johnson
Siddle
Bollinger
Lee: all pace
Johnson: X-Factor
Siddle: Hit the deck Hard
Bollinger: swing.

And Bracken has only proven that he is a shithouse Test bowler.

And Bracken has only proven that he is a shithouse Test bowler but still better than White and the others who don't even rate at first-class level.

Plenty of others ahead of Bracken as Test match bowlers. Siddle,Noffkee,Bollinger,Tait,Hilf maybe even Geeves and Maggofin. And yes I know I might have the wrong spelling for some names.
Bracken is very average, dismal Test record.

Well you all have been a big help in stating the fact that 3 yrs. ago he didn't do very well in tests!. Well done all.
How about the fact he has improved considerably as a bowler since then and deserves another crack.
Or does everyone enjoy idling by watching India go past 500 again?

But he has not improved in 4 day cricket, in fact if anything his average has gone up, he is fantastic in ODI's, horrible with the red ball.
Nathan Bracken - LOL - a fine ODI player if we are relying on him to SOS then were in trouble a) his injured and b) anyone whothink this bloke can be a threat in Test Cricket knows nothing about circket he cannot swing the red ball.
And as for the balls we use ine ach series you rekon Cricket Australia would of learnt after the Ashes in 05 train with the f/u/c/king ball your going to use in the upcomng series.
