Granted that he's 33, but can he play or what? Swings it a mile, left-arm, bangs it in hard and generates some very good pace. Certainly a late-bloomer, but surely he has to come into contention, for both this summer and the Ashes next year, where the seaming decks would suit his style.

Isn't he playing for the Netherlands now?
He's a top bloke anyway.
Edit: I'm confused now. I could have sworn I saw something about him joining up with the Netherlands, but I can't find anything about it online. I've spent too long in LtD's company...

How do you think the pecking order of Aussie quicks looks at the moment?
How many guys do you think are ahead of Dirk Nannes?
Write me a list.

Where did I mention that he sat ahead of all others in the pecking order, Gunner?
Never did, all I said was that if he keeps up his form from last summer and the early days of this summer, he may well into contention. Granted that there are a number who are ahead of him, but there's plenty going for him. Seen much of him before?
No need for lists - if you wanted me to be honest, I'd have Harwood and Noffke right up there with Mitchell Johnson (cue abuse).

Write me a list of the guys who are "in contention", and tell me where Nannes sits relative to them.
Australia should be going for a youth policy, so this bloke will not get a chance.

No they shouldn't, picking the best team regardless of age is what Australia should continue doing.
If he were 25 now, he would be ahead of Johnson.
Too old to be considered.

Older players are more prone to injury, and have stamina issues such as maintaining pace.
Thats all older players no-one in particular.
Thats why they retire in their mid thirties.
All the greats Lillee, Thomson, McGrath, McDermott and Hughes were given their opportunities in their 20's or in McDermott's case his teens.

If their fitness wasn't up to scratch then they wouldn't be playing, the people in charge of the fitness and conditioning of the Australian team would have a responsibility to ensure that every player in the squad is up to scratch fitness wise. Otherwise I'd be pretty certain they would be out of a job.
All players a susceptible to injury regardless of age, although yes I agree the older players are more prone to injury but it's not always the case, just ask Shane Watson.
