The 1976 edition of a book, called “100 Great Marks”, by Scot Palmer & Greg Hobbs, features 5 marks by players, representing Fitzroy. Who were the players?
To help, I’ll give you a separate clue for each mark.

1. The player was holding Ron Barassi in a headlock with his knees, as he took this mark.
2. This mark was also featured in the 1996 book, “100 Years of Australian Football”, in which it was incorrectly credited to Alex Ruscuklic.
3. This former Preston player was a member of Fitzroy’s 1978 Night Premiership team.
4. This player once kicked 7 goals for Fitzroy in a match for premiership points in Hobart.
5. The editors originally thought this mark was taken by Warwick Irwin.

Both players wore the same number for Fitzroy.

Laurie Richards is correct. Well done Mr Ripper.

Does that give anyone any clues for no. 5?

5. The editors originally thought this mark was taken by Warwick Irwin. He last played for Fitzroy in 1982.

He was recruited to Fitzroy from the same club as Paul Roos.

Well Paul Roos was recruited from Beverley Hills and the only other player I can think of to come from there was Mark Browning of South/Sydney fame.

Although Ashley Hewitson (son of my Under 16s coach at Beverley Hills) did play Under 19s for Melbourne.

Lol.

The player I'm after was recruited from Beverley Hills (it hasn't got its own postcode) & he isn't Gary Pert, Mark Browning, Ashley Hewitson or even, Paul D.
