And Oasis were ****en sensational, while they didn't play Wonderwall they made up for it by playing heaps of classics like Don't Look Back in Anger, Some Might Say, Ciggarettes and Alcohol and my personal favourite She's Electric which I'm sure I was the only one head banging to.

They played for just over 90 minutes and finished off playing My Generation. A lot better this time around and I can't wait to see them again at Livid.

Motorace went alright too with the two songs I had heard of.

Fooking great gig, great atmosphere. The night was outstanding never have I been at a gig where at the end of it Wonderwall (recording through the pa) came on and it was pitch black. The crowd sung along to the whole song.My ears are still ringing and my head hurts but by God Oasis put on a great show. Also 2 t-shirts for $30 good value!! Can't wait for Livid now. Lastly Liam started on bottles of water then kept going backstage (every opportunity) coming back with paper cups full of a substance as he seemed to be at times off with the fairies.

BTWN Motorace the jury with me is still out on but a interested spectator in the wings was Noel, who left after the opening song.I'm swinging more to dislike because the bloody poof changed his guitair every bloody song!!! Whichever record company has this band, obviously the lead singer doesn't mind buying a few guitairs. I thought all their song's all come across very similiar. But then again I wasn't their to see Motorace.

Noel: Wonderwall 'not about Meg'

Noel Gallagher and Meg Mathews divorced last year

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has revealed that his most famous song was not written about his ex-wife, Meg Mathews.
Speaking in a documentary to be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 this weekend, the guitarist - who writes much of the band's material - said people wrongly assumed the hit single Wonderwall was about Mathews.

"The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it," said Gallagher.

"And how do you tell your Mrs it's not about her once she's read it is? It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself."

Wouldn't be the first time a Gallagher brother made a contradicting comment.

A lot of bands will do this. Makes it easier if the songs are in different tuning. Rather than retuning their guitar for each song, they have a few guitars with different tuning. Makes it easier, and more efficient on stage.

BS they do, they might have 4 or even 5 guitairs tuned but this ******** had 9 or 10!!

Who cares about that, he played She's Electric.

The reason Noel dosen't want to play Wonderwall anymore is because he doesn't want to turn a gig into a big karaokee session.

What a pack of arrogant, pretentious pratts!

I mean the poor buggers. How fricken aweful that they have a song that was almost universally loved and hence is sung word for word back to them. I dont know how they put up with it! I wouldnt play it anymore either. I mean sh*t, you cant have punters (those same punters that fork out the dollars for the tickets and album releases etc) singing along with your tunes now can you? Defeats the purpose of releasing music to the world now doesnt it?

Get over yourself Noel. You and your band are over-rated anyway.

U might think they're over-rated but the millions of people that buy their albums and go to their concerts would disagree with you

One of the top3 bands in the world

Hey i own every Oasis album and do not think they (he) are entirely untalented. Noel writes some paletable enough pop songs and in the right mood i dont find them overly offensive.

But to whinge about and refuse to play a certain song because you lament the fact it was such a big hit and because your own fans sing it back to you at gigs is just supercilious to the extreme and taking your fan base for granted. If he and his band are dont like that aspect of being in a popular band, dont release your material then. Simple.

And to justify their status purely by popularity and album sales means to also assert that N'Sync, BackStreet Boys and Avril friggen Lavigne are up there also!

In terms of musical talent, song writing and orginality, the things that i personally judge a band or artists on, if they are indeed perceived as a "top 3" band, then they are extremely over-rated.

But like Mcchawk said, each to their own.

He has said previously, he doesn't want the band to be known just for Wonderwall... Part of the reason he doesn't play it at gigs.

Fans of the band know that there are more songs than just Wonderwall, and normally, Oasis fans fav songs are not the smash hits, they are the mid album tracks, or one of the B sides. I know this is not true in most cases, but ask anyone on an Oasis message board and an Oasis fan at a gig, and chances are this is correct.

I will never love a band, or be into music anymore than I am into Oasis, for me they are the greatest, and no one will ever replace them. Their music speaks to me, and i understand it. If Noel decides he doesn't want to do Wonderwall, i will not lose any sleep over it. If he decides to do it, great. I've seen him do it live, so it's not like i've missed by never seeing him do it.

There are songs that i love, and two that I hold highly, that i have never seen, including my Favorite. I just hope he does one of them, but if he doesn't, it won't matter because i will have seen the greatest band on earth, and just like it always does, it will put a swagger back into my step, a rush into my blood, somehow they will become deeper, wider, soulful, better at their craft, inspired by so many thngs like a world that is tilting who knows where...

Believe, Belief, Beyond. Our Morning Glory.

Each to their own... music is subjective and says different things to different people.

What about Nick Cave or Billy Bragg? Both of these guys are bloody fantastic live, their music is pretty real and raw and they don't do crappy pop songs like too many bands playing these days.

What about the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra??? (speaking as a classical musician, I am kind of biased.) Get some kulcha into yers. :D

Just got back and have to say

FANBLOODYTASTIC

In a word Brilliant. Not going to go into the details, but will say, after posting that i had never heard one of my favorites earlier today, what happens tonight? He plays it. I think a tear came to my eye when i heard them break into it.

Magnificant. Never disapointed.
