Just thought i would get in and see what people would think of young Chris Johnson from Melbourne, I said prior to the trade week and late in the year that he would be a handy look at, could be one of those players in that 22+ age braket that we could use, he is a very clean all round player, who has boasted some good numbers this year. Just want to see what the general consesus is about him.

If he's available at pick 5, he's more than welcome in the Red and Black!

Very keen to get him out of Carlton's grubby hands as mentioned in other threads..:thumbsu::thumbsu::D

I think he has already nominated Carlton.

I would take him as well, decent player.

Doesn't matter who he nominates, he plays with whoever has the earlier pick and is willing to pay him the price he has set. As long as that price isn't too high i would be happy for essendon to take him.

Of course he may going into the national draft in which case he would probably go a high lower then we would want to use.

Bit of a strange story with Johnson, no real clear reason why he didnt want to commit to the Dees. Seems an ok player so I would be too upset if we picked him up for essentially nothing.

Better version of Nash

If essendon spoke with him and he said no I'm not interested, I want to play for Carlton would we still recruit him? You would have to worry a bit about his commitment if that happened. I think once he arrived he would be happy so it would be worth the chance.

Don't want him. Once someone has proved they aren't prepared to commit to a jumper then, no thanks....

I would be amazed if Knights went for him...

If his heart isn't in it then it's best to forget about him. Jade Rawlings and Shane Harvey are two examples i can think of of players who played ordinary at clubs they didn't want to end up at. Then on the other hand you've got Nick Stevens... But if the bloke doesn't wanna be a part of Essendon's future, forget about him.

Fair go mate. Give the young fella a go. It was the Melbourne Football Club Jumper, after all! ;)

Not interested.

And he isnt a better version of Nash.

Wouldn't mind him. He's certainly better than whatever else will be on offer at 5 in the PSD.

I'd rather take a punt on another project tall in the ND.

Westhoff and Goldsack immediately come to mind who were late picks while Bellchambers even showed good signs for an 18 yo in the PSD.

Massively overrated, Melbourne wouldn't have let him go if he was any good.

Different scenarios....

Different scenarios....

How so?

Both players left their clubs to pursue better opportunities elsewhere.

If Johnson wants to come to Essendon then we'd be stupid not to consider him strongly.

I hate this fricken term....you take the best player available. I think that he will end up at carlton, i dislike the process that a 22 yr old player can walk out on a club and then pretty much choose where he wants to play. I would love to bombers just to say stuff it....were taking u...if u dont wanna play for the red n black......dont pay at all baby.

P.S...i dont get why people say "this player is too expensive"...it salary cap room...ie used to pay players. no good just leaving it alone...use i all and pay the best players what u can to get them

I here today(on SEN) that Tommy Hislop is doing pre-season with the Bombers, so I would rather give him a second chance if his head is clear

What sort of player is Johnson as i know nothing about him. What position does he play and what are his strengths and weaknesses.

I can't believe some of the positive dribble written about CJ!

I call him the pre-season specialist. Plays 1 good NAB Cup game each year then goes missing by round 3.

A very soft player!

He'll be a good player for Bendigo or the Bullants next year.

Disagree... Prismall from all reports was extremelly committed, but despite working extremelly hard, through no fault of his own, or the club, couldn't cement a spot in the first team.

Coming to that age you really need to start cementing a spot in the first team. Johnson however could have easily been in Melbournes first team. He simply wanted to play for a 'bigger' club and boost his profile.

That said if the club thinks he is better than any other player on offer at our pick then get him. I'd hate to see other clubs pass him up simply because he said he wants to go to Carlton.

After watching a minutes worth - if that's the best he has to offer - Carlton please take him.

I would rather we go with a proven player or go for a punt on some kid with huge raw potential - ala Williams.
